Xbox 360 S HDD?

I am currently considering on buying a 2.5 5400rpm 120gb hdd for my xbox 360 and just buy the shell form a site for like $10-$15. But i am wondering if any of you guys know what exactly i got to do in order to have the hard drive compatible for my 360 slim? I dont wanna chip up a huge $130 for a 250gb official brand xbox 360 hdd if i can get a 120gb or a 250gb for like $30-$40 on amazon or ebay. I rather save money but i know im suppost to use a linux hack or some type of format for the hard drive to work with the xbxo 360 slim 4gb i have or what? Tips anyone? Thanks in advance
