FSX problems with Windows 7
I've been having severe issues with FSX on Windows 7 ever since I installed it last year. I've had the usual "Fatal Errors" when trying to click on the Options Menu, general freezes and hangs. However things have culminated somewhat in the last two days whereby when I was mid-flight, my system crashed out totally and came back with a BSOD (please see my other post for that info).
I managed to restart my computer but when I reloaded FSX it had a "Fatal Error" every time I tried to change aircraft type - in particular when accessing Wilco Publishing's Airbus Series 2 add on planes (these add-ons and my others have all been fine up until this point).
I have reluctantly clean installed FSX + Acceleration and not put any add-on's back on as yet. I've followed a great thread on how to set it up (SETTING UP FSX and HOW TO TUNE IT - SimForums.com Discussion). FSX is now installed outside of x86 folder by the way in c:/fsx.
However, before I go any further I want to check with people on here regarding FSX and Windows 7 - I understand there are some known issues. I want to try and make a clean install that ideally avoids the constant crashes I had before - can anyone advise some step by step procedures which resolve Windows 7/FSX know issues? I've read about the UIAutomationCore.dll and doing things with this but there seem to be some many threads and ways to change this.
I have the following add-on's I'd like to reinstall into FSX - they worked before (yes it crashed from time-to-time) so I think they are generally ok. If anyone has any particular thoughts on these though (known issues, updates being released etc) then please do share.
I guess I'd really appreciate anyone's advice on getting FSX working well with Windows 7, any updates I should install, any add-on's I should avoid, any configuration changes I should make...anything!
Many thanks in advance for any advice!
PS I am fairly computer literate but all the same as a newbie on here, please can you explain things in fairly simple terms so I can avoid making any mistakes with any changes!! Ta!
