    Dragon Age:Origins

Right, I have a E-System laptop, 2GB RAM and intel Celeron. Obviously running on Windows 7 :). Wanted to ask a quick question. Is Dragon Age: Origins working well on Windows 7? And if so, is it worth buying? :)

    Cheers,
    Paul

Whether its worth it or not depends on the type of games you like.

Personally, I say YES. DA:O is an excellent game as well as the expansion, Awakening.

And yes, it runs just fine under Windows 7. just be sure to patch to the latest version.

G4TVs review of the game sums up my thoughts about it quite nicely. Have a look.

But be aware of the system requirements.
For the best performance, a Quad Core CPU is best.

    Windows Vista Minimum Specifications
    • OS: Windows Vista with SP1
    • CPU: Intel Core 2 (or equivalent) running at 1.6Ghz or greater
    • AMD X2 (or equivalent) running at 2.2GHZ or greater
    • RAM: 1.5 GB or more
    • Video: ATI Radeon X1550 256MB or greater
    • NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT 256MB or greater
    Recommended Specifications
    • CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4Ghz Processor or equivalent
    • RAM: 4 GB (Vista) or 2 GB (XP)
    • Video: ATI 3850 512 MB or greater
    • NVIDIA 8800GTS 512 MB or greater

Dragon Age: Origins runs fine under Windows 7. In fact it ran beautifully under Windows 7 64-bit. It just depends on your hardware. I would highly suggest your system be at least at or better then the "Recommended" requirements Wishmaster has posted.

    Is it worth buying.... YES!

is it working under windows 7? yes, no problem

is it worth buying? yes - it's an engrossing game that offers hours of fun.

can your laptop play it? i don't think so unfortunately.

looking at your laptop specs, i don't think your machine is powerful enough, in either the cpu or gpu departments.

it's a pity that there's no free demo to test performance.

Alright, thanks guys. I think I'll install it onto the home computer instead, but I might try it out on the laptop first! I'll give feedback on how it runs :)

Um, an E-System laptop? Celeron CPU and iirc an integrated Intel video card? No, you don't want to install DA:O in that machine. I had a Dell Inspiron which is quite a bit beefier than the E-System specs I looked up, but it choked even on Oblivion which is much older than DA:O. Game runs fine on Win7 btw, got it running on my Lenovo Ideapad. Pretty well-behaved too, tolerates alt-tabbing no problem.

Minimum laptop hardware I've gotten Dragon Age running smoothly in windows 7: A 2008 Lenovo t400 with 4GB DDR2 RAM, a 2.53 GHz core 2 duo, a 7200 RPM HDD, and a 128MB HD3470 @ native resolution of 1440x900. The game is definitely worth the money.. especially with all the DLC available ..and can keep you busy for weeks (or even months if you don't have more than an hour or so in the average day for gaming but your laptop won't be able to play it... not even at minimum graphics
