BioShock has horrific audio stuttering when loading

It only happens when loading the game, but it is frustrating. It sounds like my PC has grinded to a hault, as if the Hard Disk or the CPU are dying. Whenever I play music in the background and load a level in BioShock the music will slow down and stutter horribly. However, just as much HDD activity and CPU usage can be seen loading a level in say, Call of Duty World at War, Crysis, or TF2 which have no issues. Has anyone else had this issue?

Core 2 Duo E6550 @ 2.80GHz
4GB 1066MHz HyperX
GA-P35-DS3P (With Realtek HD onboard audio latest drivers)
Nvidia/Zotac GeForce 8800GT 512MB
Western Digital 500GB 7200RPM

dont feel bad. after 2 minutes of gameplay, the shuts down completely. i think my issue is cause of the beta drvier for my sound card.
if you have EAX, try disabling it, that and any other 'enhancement' features (reverb/bass boost/etc). usual found in the Mixer properties.
