    There is nothing to apply,

    Battlefield: Bad Company

Requires Battlefield Bad Company 2 to play

Your Battlefield account will be granted the SPECACT kit upgrade. No download or codes required. SPECACT kits will now be available from the kit selection screen after joining a server. *Please note that you must use the same email address as Your Battlefield account to ensure entitlement is delivered to the correct account.

yea thats great. Theres no way to apply it to my ea account either. I didn't pay out of my own pocket, but it feels bad all the same. Steam will probably give me it back in the steam wallet or something. I got it through prizerebel so I didnt have to spend my own money :P

Hello Steve, Thank you for contacting Steam Support. Unfortunately you will not be able to play the Steam version of expansions or DLC for this retail game. Steam DLC and expansions require a Steam version of the original game. In addition to purchases made through Steam, “Steam versions” include retail purchases and purchases from alternative digital distributors for games on the following list: Title: Retail CD Keys Link:

Please note that in some cases there may be CD Keys from alternative digital distributors or CD Keys that do not match the pattern shown in this article - you will not be able to activate these games on Steam. If you need assistance in returning this preorderd title, we would be happy to assist you.

no steam downloads will work on retail. I'm about to receive a steam copy from someone. Never again will I buy steam dlc for retail. They jack it up so it only works on their buys.

Hmm that doesn't make any sense.

The Vietnam expansion is nothing more than a CD Key/code. It's gonna work with either the Steam version or the retail version (regardless of whether or not you bought the game via Steam).

All you have to do is, purchase the Expansion/DLC from EA Store or Steam, and insert the CD Key/code in-game once the 18th rolls around (just like the VIP Code when BFBC2 launched).

zh1nt0 has mentioned this a couple of times (Battlefield Community Manager).

Thats the issue. From what I am hearing you won't be prompted with any kind of key, but rather steam will just merge it. Thats what happened with specact dlc for me. Now that I have the steam version I can see its cd key though. without the steam copy you cannot see any key for it which is dumb.

    I don't buy it.

I think it's gonna be a 'redeem CD key/code' in-game message type of thing.

    We'll see.

Ok heres what happens. Steam tricks you because they're assholes. Basically if you do not own the game you cannot view the key. Both the specact dlc and vietnam have redeem keys. I had to still redeem the cd key for specact on the steam version. They tell you you cannot use it on retail but if you were able to view the key without the game you could use it on retail.

    FREAKING TROLLS.

If you don't own the game it might explain why you're having issues.

errr what? I had retail and I bought the dlc via steam. I dont have the game on my steam so I could not view the dlc cd key. If steam had just given me the dlc cd key i wouldnt have had to buy it again. Lesson learned, steam trolls.
