How to get a better performance in games?

Well I noticed that the game freeze for some seconds when I'm playing.
I don't know what is, I have the drivers up to date(according to the manufacturer, because they offer a few other features).

Well, anyone already saw this error before?
The first game that freeze was Dragonica, later Halo Combat Evolved.

And I wonder if anyone has suggestions on how to improve the performance of the games.
    Anything...

    I appreciate any sugestion.

    Thank you.

That could be related to a driver issue, over-heating, or a weak (or dying) PSU.

Overclock your video card memory and gpu speed by 10% using ATI Tray Tools before you start a game. Put your fan at anywhere for 90% to 100% while doing so.

Overclock your cpu and memory. Since you're asking, I'm guessing you don't know how to safely. In this case, Google your motherboard and overclocking. You'll likely find discussions or articles about it.

Use disable desktop composition on all the shortcuts for your games.

Tweak your services by disabling any you don't need. If you aren't completely sure what one or more does, leave it/them alone.

Defragment your hard disks regularly with O&O or another product, including Windows' built-in one.

Place your page file and temporary folder locations on another physical hard drive than the one containing Windows.

Close any programs either normally or using the task manager that you do not need open when going to play a game.

Ensure you have the latest available driver not only for your graphics card but for other devices too. Visit the sites of the manufacturers of them and check it out.

Well, everything that was said I already do regulary, but the problem is that the game freezes some times only, and I don't know what to do, but, when I'm using full performance, the game freezes, and when I'm in the battery this do not happens.

    What could be?
