    directx 9 wont install

whenever i try to install it it comes up with an error stating that there is either low disk space (got 455gb free) or the cab is corrupted. tried several different downloads but still get the same response. any ideas.

trying to get my rfactor to play and everytime it just reverts back to the video test box and wont load the game....

Where are you downloading it from? If it is anywhere but from here,

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en - this is the full install package, and recommended on a clean OS install

    or here,

Download details: DirectX End-User Runtime - this is the web install that only downloads the parts that are missing and/or need to be updated

it could be the download source.

Hmm you might wanna try to clear out your temp internet files folder too because he downloaded file usually ends up there. Then retry downloading that sucker again.

    Should I install DX9 on Windows 7?
the DX9 link does not include Windows 7 as valid operational system. It will not mess with DX10?
It looks my NFS Shift is demanding some dx9 files.
a straight reply will be appreciated. thanks

Yes you should, and no it won't mess with the DX 10 (or 11) files.

the web installer is the most recent, as it connects to the web for whatever it needs instead of downloading extra bulk
