It's free because they use it as a recruitment tool.

lol that's probably true. but i know people who are insane at FPS games, and the cant run 100 ft. without keeling over, lift a cinder block, or any sort of physical labor.
so i'd say that recruiting from video games is really bad plan.

also, i just played a little, and it sucks (imo)

Steam has nothing to do with the game being free, it has always been free.

    Yep.

IIRC, it was originally designed as a training tool for the US Army and over time some bright sparks decided that it could also be a great recruitment tool.

It's no joke. Recruiters use any means at thier disposal to lure youths into the service. This game is just another of thier tools.

Counter Strike - source. now THAT will teach you "how kill or be killed" works. lol
I know it being on steam has nothing to do with it being free. I was just pointing out that the game is free, and that ir is on Steam. Besides, I already got all that recruitment stuff in the mail.... Bum knee, not so easy to haul an 800Lb pack for days on end

BTW if you have never played this game, do yourself a very large favor, save your bandwidth and do not download it (either with the AAODeploy Client or Steam). The game for the most part is pretty much unplayable at the moment due to a few things,

    - Authorization servers are up and down (more down) thatn a toilet seat

    - game breaking bugs that range from the not loading at all, to locking up when trying to load a map (training or a server), if it will even load that far.

You can see all kinds of people with the above and a lot more problems with it here,

P.S. I am also one of those that had most of those issues with the game. Sad really, haven't played it much in the last couple of years (started back in the 1.9 days), but this is so bad that I have already deleted the game and have no intention of ever going back to it.
