    Half Life 2 on 7

Just installed HL-2 and Steam did an additional update. On first-run, it generates an error and won't boot.

    http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w.../HL2_Error.jpg

    I'm running Windows 7 x64 build 7201. Here's what I've tried:

1 - Direct launch from Steam.
2 - Desktop shortcut, 'Run as Admin'.
3 - Desktop shortcut, 'Run as Admin' and Vista SP2 Compatibility mode.
4 - Direct exe run from the folder.

Any suggestions? I'd like to run the new HD10 Cinematic Mod but can't even get stock HL2 to boot. System Specs below, I'm running Catalyst 9.6.

    Hmm

Possibly try deleting the Half life 2 folder, if its there

C:/programfiles/steam/steamaps/*username*/Halflife2 some thing along those lines

Recently I noticed that on June 10th around midnight that Steam had an update. I was mapping until I noticed that I needed to update. So what I did was saved my work, closed Source SDK and clicked the restart steam button.

After steam loads up again, I go to run Source SDK, works fine. I try to launch one of the tools from Source SDK and I get the following Error on any game content:

"SteamStartup() failed: SteamStartup(0xf,0x0012F66C) failed with error 1: Failed create pipe: 6, Win32 Error 6 "The handle is invalid.""

After this error the first time, I restarted steam, loaded up source SDK and same result.
    result!

    restart PC?

I have tried this several times as well.

    Edited:

    Problem resolved.

Deleted my Sourcesdk folder and reopened sourcesdk. solved everything.
try that but with the hl2 folder, probly the one with the binaries. (back it up) then redownload it with steam.
Or is steam the app thats crashing? reinstall steam in that case. your game should remain intact, so long as you install in the same directory.

    -edit-
lol he beat me too it....damn google and its irrelevant results

Has anyone had problems with the Source SDK Hammer update?

I noticed rather bluntly that now that hammer has been categorised by year of the game relased, my hammer's no longer function at all; EXCEPT for the oldest one for HL2 original; however, hammer runs soo slow that it i litteraly imposible to use.

Any suggestions? becuase the best idea i've had on the subject is to script blender3D some export .vtf scripts becuause hammer wasn't really that great anyway and blender had way more usefull tools.
