Windows 7: Best games to play Pc?

Most of the games I play are very old, but they're still very fun in my opinion.

Here's a list, in order of game type (first is RTS, then RPG, then space combat simulators, and last is FPS):

StarCraft (and its expansion, Brood War)
Rise of Nations and (and its expansion, Thrones and Patriots)
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Final Fantasy VIII
Freelancer (with the Discovery Mod)
StarLancer
Wing Commander: Privateer (and it's expansion, Righteous Fire) <------Requires DOSBox
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Team Fortress 2

I like Borderlands, and you can get the Game of the Year Edition for $20 every now and then, includes the game plus codes for all 4 DLC (the downloadable expansions).

I own the Standard Edition with 2 of the expansions, The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned and Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot
The Zombie Island one is very fun, just haven't gotten around to the second add-on yet.

Try Fallout New Vegas, or Fallout 3 GOTY Edition. My favorite fps/rpg games ever.(Although they can also be played in third person view.) You should also give steam games a try, many people play them because they are fun. Such as Counterstrike Source and Team Fortress 2.

I see later- Your genre is more less fps games. Same for me really, but more into rps games these days. Seems to me a natural progression of fps is rps games. The combo role playing/ first person shooter games- rps [ role playing shooter]. Games like all stalker' bioshock' borderlands goty fallout 3 goty are what I am playing these days, and hl2 epi2.Mostly playing fo3 and borderlands.

I would love to see an all new HL3 game, new engine- maybe the story pick up at the end of epi2. But HL3 could easy add some rpg elements and easy go into a sweet rps game [combo rpg/ fps].

Some day I will get a better video card. Really need it for my stalker games. My stalker games are maybe my over all fav of the genre, and most hard on my system to run at higher settings. Better gun play and feel or player movement, then add story line and atmosphere etc. Borderlands has better gun play feel maybe, last would be bioshock or fo3 being very last. But each game add's it's differences, some stuff a lil better than others. But gun play and story and atmosphere, All of it what ever just sucks you in. I will play dead space again soon- maybe later get ds2. I think bioshock 2 certainly its mp was a let down.

Being disabled and poor, I do not buy games I can complete in a evening, or not until real cheap. I do not play mp games like talking about it- lil is honest, most folks will and do cheat ya. All big money and sponsored tourneys are over lan. Older fps or rps games take longer to play and offer me better value. Games like ut04 or ut3 hl2 stalker codwaw zombies where you can add maps or mods or even play just against the bots in same maps or practice same maps the mp guys get, is even better and more value.

Most all games today suck imo, if not a rps or not offer some of the older game benefits listed above. Also most games today are poor ports. And can be said pc gaming is slowing being killed off. Oh ya Old school mp servers would be better than any gfwl type junk. I do like and wish maybe stalker or fo3 or bioshock had co op like borderlands, to play with 1 or a few buds would be cool.

I have none of the newer cod or mw bf what ever they are games, never had crysis either. I will one day when cheap- or I have enough system. Also you have a ati card, so physx does not much matter, you cant do it. Stalker games and any game with the ut3 engine seems to work my system the most, and I get lots of joy from them. I played bioshock maybe 15x and stalker soc maybe 45x.

Fo3 and Borderlands goty are a lil different, but have been playing them forever or most lately. I guess either of these games even bioshock can be never ending. I like the options. I would like metro and some other new bf games when cheap and if I had a good dx11 vid card. I can only wish for a nv 580 or 570. Then I would play most all my games again, maxed out and @ 1920x1080, sounds sweet..

Fo3 goty is sucking my brain out. First time playing the dlc's. So I need to play them again a new game any way. I will wait until I can get a better vid card. But still have lots of side missions I never did so- I am good, some 1000 videos and 5000 screen shots later. Will do it again when I get a better video card.

Stalker games and fo3 are by far the most glitchy or bug games I play, stalker cs and fo3 being the worst. Stalker cs actually runs best for me out of the 3 games, cop is not bad but has bad fps drops and has never been patched. Stalker clear sky, you might not ever get 1 flash drive for a shot gun repair, or if you save at npc you might not be able to kill strelok, even after 10 patches you might not ever really complete a whole game. Each of the cs mods has its own probs- or messed up scopes what ever. Fo3 is just normal Bethesda buggy junk, typical for beth. Still great games tho..

I will play fc2 again when I get a better video card. I think FarCry3 will be good, I have not read anything on it in a long time tho.. Id love to get back into ut04, First time back at mp and being cheated will make me hate it again tho.. Still would be fun playing bots and installing extra mod maps and skins etc. We will see.

Being poor, I buy what or when I can or games are give to me- steam gifts or a game with a vid card etc. But if I could get both l4d games for 25 bucks or under id like them, and maybe red dead and dlc's. Its a few others. Well many, If i was rich or lowered my standards..

I have the goty. My bud and I play together, we drop dupe gear, farm mostly my hunters craw, He drops the best out of our craws. We use some mod stuff some times- normally just to farm craw as fast as possible. We use normal or our best gear for everything else , or mostly.

We have another bud or 2 join us some times. We do not care for purists tho, they might try and run off with our gear to try and destroy it- they do not like duping or mod stuff. It is cool- go play some place else- I boot them types. Some are not cool at all.

If quests are done- we go out to what ever area and kill stuff, raid boxes or farm craw etc. Good stuff.. Great game.

- may I venture to suggest UT3 - it's still a magnificent game..!!

thanks guys ! i love fps games tho always for me ! battlefield bad company 2 absoulutley love it it is basiclly everything for fps shooters cod im not really a fan of tbh because its all the same every game theyve brought out its like wow you get a kill streak wow i got the same thing again yes it is addictive but if you think why ? then i dont see the point in it tbh

might try borderlands also along with grid i mean i play multiplayer all the time really i dont really both with like single player i play for online experience and to get that i need to find out which is best

Fallout 3 goty, fun stuff.

I made a few animated gifs. Virtualdub is having fits with avi, I installed ffdshow codecs and made sure decoders are on etc, still nothing. So I converted what lil cut sections I needed to xvid, then virtualdub can work with them. Vd is the only free program I know of that can turn video into screen shots. I use free [any video converter] for most stuff. I use irafan view and unfreeze to finish off the a-g's, all free programs..

Make me laugh when using the gauss it will knock out/ down what ever your first few shots- death claws what ever.. I will post some other animated gifs in a few other threads..

The pint size slasher mask as long as not worn out acts like the ghoul mask, ghouls will not attack ya unless you attack them if waring it, or it might need repair.
