    Installing The Sims 2 Pets

    Hello guys,

After having Windos 7 for a while, I decided to install The Sims 2. At first I had problems with installing him and runing, but finally it worked and I played it for a while. Than I dicaded to start installing the expansions, and I sarted with The Sims 2 Pets, since my Univeristy does't want to install .
The problem now is that I can't install my Pets expansion. It goes just fine untill I says to insert The Sims 2 disc. When I instert it,the installation goes for a while but than it says that a error appeared and that the installation must be terminated .
Before Windows 7 I had installed evry single expansion, whitout University, and it worked perfectly!
    Help me!!!

What kind of problems did you encounter during the installation of Sims 2? As far as i recall, those games ask you to insert Disc 1, then Disc 2, then re-insert Disc 1 and then it does an Internet check for updates. When you have an installation that requires multiple discs and it proceeds OK until it reaches a certain disc, but then crashes-- it could be a simple case that one of the discs is scratched / dirty.

Well just few moments ago I tried again to install a different expansion, but again it crashed and this appeared: "Error appeared during the update" so I'm not sure if it's
The Sims 2 disc scartched/dirty, since I can play it normally, just can't update . But on the other side I wouldn't be wondered if it is scratched/dirty becouse I gave it to my frends several times...
    Well,anyway,I appreciate you help :)

Well, if a game was not going to install, it would tell you at the start, for example "Cannot write to this directory" or whatever. I have tried the Sims 2 + one expansion pack under Windows 7 and it installed fine on my computer.

You can manually download Sims 2 patches here: TheSims2.com - Updates

Perhaps the expansion installer is crashing when it tries to do an update check, but fails to gain Internet access? --You did mention update problems, which firewall software do you have installed?

As for a bad disc, you can always use CD/DVD burning software to make a exact copy of the problem disc. With luck all the files copy over successfully and you end up with a perfect unscratched copy of your game that will install correctly.

If the installation works (more or less) fine until the update check comes into play, I doubt that it's the very disk at fault. You should definitely take Lost's advice and install all the patches manually. It would also help if you install the basic Sims 2 and work your way up the expansions in order.

    Hi
well I took a untouched CD from my frends, and that didn't helped either. Sadly neither did your advices. Than one last time when I tried to innstal the expansion and I figured out that it was stoping where the Bodyshop should be updated and than I remmembered that Bodyshop wan't working on my PC since I downloaded some stuff and I accidentally blocked Bodyshop with the firewall. So I downloaded a new Bodyshop from the net, and guess what-the innstalation worked!!!Hooray!!!!!
