    Fallout 3 GOTY edition Freezes/chrashing

    Hi all,

    This is my first post here about Fallout 3 wich took me about 2 weeks of headache to run the game. You now, new game crash or freeze. Short story.

    I bought a PC in may 2010 for casual gaming you now old games to play without problems such as medieval 2, elder scrolls 4, anno 1404, assassins creed.
    This games play very well on a :
    Intel (R) Core (TM) I3 CPU 530 (2,93Hz) - integrated videocard
    4 GB RAM
    Windows 7 home premium
    The games didn't look bad but had their limits when it comes to high end settings, shadows, environment, HDR lighting and such on.

    I bought 2 weeks ago Fallout GOTY edition a game of 2008/2009 so i was thinking when i can play elder scrolls 4 (2006) with no problems and almost everything on high and i can play anno 1404 (2009) with very good graphics fallout wil not be a problem but it was.

    My conclusion: i had to buy a graphic card

    So i bought a GForce GTX460 1GB (€. 199,--).

    My newcard was detect by the game and sets in automatic on "ultra high" I did start the new game and YES it went on with no problems with a nice intro film.

    I am playing now in the vault and i will soon open it .

    What a great game.

    Will inform about the gameplay when i am out of the vault, heard that it can freeze/crash and radio problems by the add-ons.

    It is hard to help ya, you have not posted your full and exact system specs.

    I will guess you are using a p55 mobo- I guess the i3 is dual core? I have the steam fo3 goty. The game has troubles with multi core cpu's. I did this and fixed my freezing for no reason and had to hit my reset button and reboot. Fo3 is a natually buggy game, beth has a great rep for bug junk and poor or might not get to it patching, its just the facts. The game might still freeze here or there its glitchy, But this fix helped me a lot..>

    Open up the .ini file located in My Documents>My Games>Fallout 3. *Do not alter the one in the actual game directory in Program files labeled Fallout_Default_ini*.

    This file is where the save games etc are at. You might have to turn on show hidden folders or extensions, but it is 1 of the files as soon as you open my games- fallout 3.

    Look In the FALLOUT.ini find the line

    bUseThreadedAI=0
    change the 0 to a 1

    then below it add the line

    iNumHWThreads=2

    See ya..
