Dragon Age II German demo is out ...and it's utter crap. DA2 is nothing like DaO. It's a consolized game for the console kiddies. It has lost it's many dialog options in favor of omgogmopewpewpew THATS A DRAGON KEEL IT WITH FIREBALLS pew i has sword. The characters seem to have shaked hands with some japanese cosplayers for too long and now they have whatever disease the asians got. http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/47900/ss_5ee8153b5b6b8a7111aeb98

Look at this dalish elf. LOOK AT HIM.
What's worse is that the game has totally lost it's charm by replacing all those nice dialog options with... well this: ImageShack® - Online Photo and Video Hosting
It worked in ME2, because ME2 was a pew pew SF shooter IN SPACE. With cover based shooting. I guess we should be thankful for not getting this on archers in DA2. Thinking about it makes me puke.
And if that weren't enough... ImageShack® - Online Photo and Video Hosting
It's the new generation of gaming udders. Females are required by law to keep their breasts outside armor for emergency breastfeeding. It makes so much sense it makes my head explode.
But what's really wrong with this game is that it's just another example of how deeply a game can get destroyed when it's made ON THE PC with the intention of making it easy to play on A CONSOLE. The environments remind of God of War, every single battle happening either in a narrow corridor or in a circular "arena" with a nice background behind it. The characters now "strike poses" like the sellouts they are, they jump over thrown swords because they are made out of pure awesome and the only thing missing seems to be Force Push. They have made Dragon Age a game about combat. The combat is better. It's a lot more fluid than it used to be in DAO. And that would be fine if they haven't changed EVERYTHING ELSE AS WELL. It's like turning KOTOR 1 or 2 into SW Force Unleashed and saying the game has evolved. No, you can crush stormtroopers and make them die in funny ways, but the game as a whole is a mess made for people that like to gasp whenever they see shiny graphics. I liked DAO for the story. I never liked it's combat, but hell, I've put up with it simply because it felt great. Now the characters are all flourishing their dual swords like they're doing a performance in front of an audience, have hair like EMO is the new thing in medieval times and seem to not hear anything over the sound of how awesome they are.
I'm guessing we have Electronic Arts to thank for this.

Well the one thing that didn't make me enjoy DA:O was the combat system. I just didn't think it worked for that game, so I never played it, even though I keep hearing it has an amazing story, but oh well. If DA2 is more like ME2, then I'll maybe play it and enjoy it more. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Built OS Windows 7 Professional x64 Service Pack 1 CPU Intel Core i7 920 3.2GHz Motherboard ASUS Sabertooth x58 Memory 6GB XMS3 Corsair 1333MHz Graphics Card Zotac Nvidia Geforce GTX470 Sound Card ASUS Xonar DX/XD 7.1 Monitor(s) Displays Dell 24" S2409W + Dell 20" E207WFP Screen Resolution 1920x1080 + 1680x1050 Keyboard Logitech G11 Keyboard Mouse Logitech G5 Laser Mouse (2007 edition) PSU Corsair HX850 modular Case Coolermaster 690II Advanced Nvidia Edition Cooling Corsair H60 Hard Drives 1x 120GB OCZ Vertex 2E, 1x 750GB Western Digital Caviar Black, 1x 1TB Western Digital Caviar Green Internet Speed 16Mbps Other Info LG Blu-Ray player |

I'm exactly the opposite, loved the complexity of the game and the interface as well. I'm sure the console guys will love it though. The interface didn't bother me as I only play games on PC, and played plenty of other similar games, just I just couldn't get in to the combat system. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Built OS Windows 7 Professional x64 Service Pack 1 CPU Intel Core i7 920 3.2GHz Motherboard ASUS Sabertooth x58 Memory 6GB XMS3 Corsair 1333MHz Graphics Card Zotac Nvidia Geforce GTX470 Sound Card ASUS Xonar DX/XD 7.1 Monitor(s) Displays Dell 24" S2409W + Dell 20" E207WFP Screen Resolution 1920x1080 + 1680x1050 Keyboard Logitech G11 Keyboard Mouse Logitech G5 Laser Mouse (2007 edition) PSU Corsair HX850 modular Case Coolermaster 690II Advanced Nvidia Edition Cooling Corsair H60 Hard Drives 1x 120GB OCZ Vertex 2E, 1x 750GB Western Digital Caviar Black, 1x 1TB Western Digital Caviar Green Internet Speed 16Mbps Other Info LG Blu-Ray player |

I think we may start seeing an enormous increase in game leaks, after the online viral response the crysis 2 leak recieved, I'm sure they are just looking at it as a form of advertising at this point.
..and if a game does badly, they can just scream piracy.
So it's win, win for them. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Insane hobo technologies. ;-) OS Windows 7 x64 CPU Intel i7 2600k Motherboard Asrock z68 extreme 4 gen 3 Memory G.skill Ripjaw 16gigs @ 1866 Graphics Card Nvidia gtx580 (evga) Sound Card Integrated HD audio + hdmi Monitor(s) Displays 24" ASUS widescreen + 42" insignia Screen Resolution 1080p (1920x1080) Keyboard Microsoft wireless 3000 (v2) Mouse MS - wireless 5000 (bluetrack) PSU 1 kilowatt SLI/Crossfire rated Silverstone modular Case NZXT Phantom + additional 220 fan Cooling Zalmann Hard Drives 128 Samsung 830

Having never played a "true" role playing game other than Mass Effect 1 &2 (I'm strictly a FPS shooter type) I really struggled to get a handle on Dragon Age's game play style, but once I got use to it I really enjoyed the game. In fact I enjoyed it so much I just had to get Awakening.
Anyway if I, a FPS shooter gamer, can get use to the style of play Dragon Age: Origins presented I'm sure anyone can as I'm not the most patient person in the world
And I have to say I thought the story was well worth playing the game. And I've already placed my pre-release order for Dragon Age 2.
My two cents. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Built by me OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Intel Core i7-950 (3.06GHz) OC to 3.8GHz Motherboard Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 rev 1, F6 Bios Memory 12 gig Corsair DDR3 Dominator GT Memory (3X 4GB) Graphics Card AMD Radeon HD6950 2gig (Sapphire) Sound Card X-Fi Titanium Fatality Pro Monitor(s) Displays HP ZR22w 22" LCD Monitor Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard Logitech Wireless Wave Mouse Logitech Performance MX PSU Antec Signature - SG-850 Case Cooler Master HAF X Cooling Noctua NH-C12P SE14 Hard Drives Primary - OCZ Vertex 4 SSD (256GB). I already saw much of the gameplay of DA2... utter crap it is!
Mages don't charge spells?
Warriors can't dual wield?
Skill trees as straightforward as they get?
"PS2" graphics?
Absolutely NO real mention of Gray Wardens? L O friggin' L
!!!FAIL!!!
EDIT: So, I was bored, and I downloaded the demo. That was an hour (or even less) of my life lost forever in utter boredom, frustration, and just plain laughter. First combat move I did (played the rogue)? "Rush"; knocked back 5 or 6 enemies, threw the stun bomb and finished them one by one... All that in about 10-15 seconds?
WHAT?! THE ?! HELL?!!!
Frustrations: the imbecile called camera!!! Instead of using the pause button to set strategies, I used the pause button to readjust the stupid camera! It's completely worthless in all other cases, even with the high number of enemies.
Boredom: Storyline and voice-work! The Champion's mother's (english) voice-over was done by the same woman who gave her voice for the human warden's mother... And what the hell is the point of Flementh in DA2? Her appearance is completely different, even though according to the story, the Wardens just left the Wilds after Ostagar and Lothering fell! That is idiotic, too. If you played DA:O you'd know it was quite a while into the DA:O storyline till Lothering fell, but in DA2, they speak of it like the village was attacked only days after the battle at Ostagar.
Templars are not templars anymore, now they have seekers or whatever... This lore is not in the game, but I have sources that say templars have been changed, and the lore is now completely f****d up!
As for the laughter, I think it's pretty obvious. Graphics and gameplay (le gasp)!
Regressing graphics so the game would be more playable for console fanboys is pure blasphemy, and NOT the way to make a sequel, Bioware! I thought the success of Mass Effect and DA:O didn't hit you all in the head, until I actually saw the conversation wheel... bleh! The camera is clearly made for consoles, not PCs, and the graphics? Seriously, I felt like I played a mediocre PS2 game, honest to god!
I have to shower, I feel the need to cleanse myself from this experience. I will NOT be buying the game, not even waste my time stealing it from a torrent. No way in hell.
