Windows 7: Lower FPS

Lower FPS

Hello, I'm having this "problem" that I'm getting somewhat lower FPS than I've used to. While gaming, I've used to get like 110-120 fps on some games, now I'm mostly getting 80. I know it's not still too bad, but it still feels weird.

When I first bought my laptop (yes, I'm gaming with a laptop.) I used to get that 100+ fps pretty much always, then suddenly some day my fps'ses started lowering. I noticed that I mostly got 60 fps, never really higher and I was really amazed by that. Then couple days later, I only got like 20-30fps, no matter what resolution or settings I used.

I got that problem solved by updating all my drivers on my PC. (Expect I've never ever touched the BIOS on my PC, because I feel unsure about it.)
After that, I had to re install my whole PC, so that I formatted C:/ basically. After that, I again updated all drivers, so the PC is like back then, but yet it feels somewhat "weaker".

At one point, I got only 60 fps in one game (half of what I used to), so I removed my graphics cards drivers and installed older one, which I use now.

My laptop is MSI's GX740, which has ATI Mobility 5870 as graphics card. And my 3dMark06 and 3dVantage tests give somewhat normal score, but yet it's bothering me...

Thanks for any help

EDIT: Noticed that my thread had been moved, I wasn't sure whether to put it to gaming or performance, so I put it to performance since it's related to performing. Seems like I put it in wrong section still and I'm sorry for that.

There's another thread with someone with a very similar problem, also with an ATI Mobility card. The same possible solutions I posted might work for you as well, have a look. Hope it helps!

Thanks mate, I'll check it

EDIT: Okay, I just installed the hotfix thing, it seems a little better, hard to say since FPS games really have quite jumpy FPS due to all the stuff happening. It feels still little less than I used to have, but the problem might just be in my head.
