Crysis 2 ... anybody got it yet? OK, so the game is out already and I am patiently waiting for those who pre-order or got it today and will fire up the Campaign... Give us your thoughts on:
Storyline
Gameplay
Graphics
Game smoothness... walking, running, jumping, etc.
Weapon Ergonomics
and whatever else you would want to discuss. I would ask you to not just say... it sucks, or its awesome, or Epic Fail or its just a run-and-gun, why? well, it seems that, these are all the games we got so we have to lower our standards a bit and as much as I love the sporadic run-&-gun firefight but prefer tactics within the game... if the storyline is good and I am allowed to play it at my pace, I am so there. | My System Specs |

I've just barely dug in at this point.
The graphics are surprisingly clear and functional even at higher settings on my little 5850.
Anyhow, a few basics.
The suit is now upgradeable, using alien components you find around you can actually increase, or change certain features/modes of the suit, this apparently is also true of multiplayer, (anyone that's played the demo should know that much) The world is persistent and at times almost stunning just to look at. The game does feel noticeably more linear than the original, while you aren't walking down one way corridors and you are left to decide how to handle each engagement. You do get a significantly more start to finish feel from how the game plays out.
This may upset some people, but for me it keeps you from wandering around just for the sake of it.
The storyline (at least as far as I am into it) has a feeling of building up to something epic. I can't really say a whole lot outside of that, weapons and their mods are fairly similiar to how it worked in the first game. (there is a basic weapon menu opened by pressing the appropriate key)
Having toyed with the settings I can tell you, you are really going to miss out with anything but dx11 graphics on this game. There is a noticeable amount of tesselation I can only assume the aliens are going to look like pinkish blobs without tesselation active. (they have a see thru property to them)
As for smoothness of play I've noticed no control problems and as I mentioned above performance is actually above what I expected to get with my mid range card.
That's about all I can say being only an hour or so into the game though. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Insane hobo technologies. ;-) OS Windows 7 x64 CPU Intel i7 2600k Motherboard Asrock z68 extreme 4 gen 3 Memory G.skill Ripjaw 16gigs @ 1866 Graphics Card Nvidia gtx580 (evga) Sound Card Integrated HD audio + hdmi Monitor(s) Displays 24" ASUS widescreen + 42" insignia Screen Resolution 1080p (1920x1080) Keyboard Microsoft wireless 3000 (v2) Mouse MS - wireless 5000 (bluetrack) PSU 1 kilowatt SLI/Crossfire rated Silverstone modular Case NZXT Phantom + additional 220 fan Cooling Zalmann Hard Drives 128 Samsung 830

They claim it plays tolerably on 560ti nvidia card.
It's a fairly cheap card to, so you may want to look into that as well.
Yeah the release was announced at midnight on the crysis 2 blogspot. Outside of that I haven't seen much on it though. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Insane hobo technologies. ;-) OS Windows 7 x64 CPU Intel i7 2600k Motherboard Asrock z68 extreme 4 gen 3 Memory G.skill Ripjaw 16gigs @ 1866 Graphics Card Nvidia gtx580 (evga) Sound Card Integrated HD audio + hdmi Monitor(s) Displays 24" ASUS widescreen + 42" insignia Screen Resolution 1080p (1920x1080) Keyboard Microsoft wireless 3000 (v2) Mouse MS - wireless 5000 (bluetrack) PSU 1 kilowatt SLI/Crossfire rated Silverstone modular Case NZXT Phantom + additional 220 fan Cooling Zalmann Hard Drives 128 Samsung 830

If you're going to upgrade to a 5850 you might check out a 6950. I haven't looked at the price difference between the two though. I will however say that the 6950 is a good card for the price. They can be had for under $300 bucks. I got mine for $280 from Amazon.
Anyway I think I'll give Crysis 2 a try. I did enjoy Crysis and Crysis Warhead. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Built by me OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Intel Core i7-950 (3.06GHz) OC to 3.8GHz Motherboard Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 rev 1, F6 Bios Memory 12 gig Corsair DDR3 Dominator GT Memory (3X 4GB) Graphics Card AMD Radeon HD6950 2gig (Sapphire) Sound Card X-Fi Titanium Fatality Pro Monitor(s) Displays HP ZR22w 22" LCD Monitor Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard Logitech Wireless Wave Mouse Logitech Performance MX PSU Antec Signature - SG-850 Case Cooler Master HAF X Cooling Noctua NH-C12P SE14 Hard Drives Primary - OCZ Vertex 4 SSD (256GB).
