Windows 7 - Crysis 2 stoped working

Crysis 2 stoped working

When I'm done playing C2 and exit the game, I get this error message - "Crysis 2 has stoped working correctly" then another window says "windows is trying for find a solution to the problem" then the close program tab is highlighted and I click it and then the game will close. Never did it before. I've went from GPU driver 11.2 to 11.3 and I'm not sure if that's when the problem started. So I went back to 11.2 but still have the same problem. Any ideas, solutions.

I get this problem with a couple of programs, as it is crashing on exit, I have never bothered to look into it. The only thing I can think of is as the program is trying to unload Dll,s it is getting stuck. Just an idea.
Have you looked at your event viewer, to see if this sheds some more light.

Usually uninstalling the video drivers + the physX drivers then cleaning the registry and installing fresh drivers clears that problem for me but... YMMV.

Can it be that you didn't install it into the default dir? If so, try and manually download the patch then apply it. Otherwise, you can still play the game by lauching it directly from the gamedir, or making a shortcut to the game .exe (NOT the laucher) on the desktop or something.

I did i installed it to my local c drive program files/Electronic arts/ Crytec/ Crysis 2
which is the default directory and ive tryed downloading the patch manually but it does it itself i can find a patch downloader that asks where to install the patch

I've got all my games on a seperate drive G-Drive and every patch, update, and DLC will find the games that need updating. I don't have to point to the drive. This shouldn't be a problem.

As for the OP's issue, the only suggestion I have would be to reinstall the game - uninstall then reinstall. And just to be safe, backup your "save" files.

Good luck

I'm sure he mispelled it as I seriously doubt the installer mispelled "Crytek"

In short I doubt that is the problem. You never know though, but I doubt it.

I'm just going on what I see..

I created a file on my E: Drive for installation, so I assume it's quite a common practice..
- and mis-naming a file would certainly prevent a patch from installing..
