When you buy a console like the PS3 or Xbox 360, you know that you'll be able to easily run any game released for it.
I have to disagree with you here, at least, that is not the case as of late... ever since consoles had the ability of going to the internet, all games decline in the sense that they are not completely finished because the publishers knew/know that they can always sell the game and then bring in a huge patch... even if it doesn't fix the game to its completion.
yeah, i see your point. for example (with Rockstar ) GTA4 didn't originally have trophies for the PS3, and when the patch came out (AFTER everyone had got bored to death with the game) you had to start a whole new save game to earn trophies
and of course there's the infamous Mercenaries 2, which (as far as I know) EA still haven't patched it, as it locks up the console when you try to go online

    been playing Vice City recently
I forgot how much fun it was, and it's still a blast on old machines unlike san andreas... :/ After re-playing it, it has occured to me that it would be quite cool if GTA 5 was set in vice city, but a vice city that's the whole size of Miami. After all, we've come a long was since 2003 with games. From what i've heard, LA Noire and Driver San Fransisco have the whole area of their respective cities, so I don't see how it could be an unrealistic dream

I am hoping they actually TEST the PC version for Grand Theft Auto V.
The Grand Theft Auto IV version for PC had far too many problems, causing a lot of people to literally go insane due to it not working after initial installation. Another horrible thing is that new copies do not include released patches, making it even that more awful. Let's hope Rockstar Games actually gives their customers the knowledge that the game will work.
I currently play San Andreas since my current PC cannot handle Grand Theft Auto IV, but I use a graphics mod called "ENB-Series" that enhances the visuals to nearly that of Grand Theft Auto IV (light reflections on vehicles, more bloom in lighting, ect.).

yeah, i definitely agree with you on the patches. If Rockstar want to be considered 'big players', they have to act like it. Releasing a half-done mess of a game and then patch after patch doesn't make it look like they're professional.
you're lucky with San Andreas My laptop can only cope with Vice City (although it's got slow again, which i need to fix). I think what may be a tell-tale sign of my computer not being up to scratch is when the game only draws three types of car model (i had modded most vehicles to their real life counterparts ) so seeing nothing in Los Santos but new york style cabs, 1980s black crown vics and ford pickup trucks, it makes me think 'this is unplayable', along with the game lagging.

I've logged 100+ hours into GTA IV and its expansions(PC). I eagerly await some details on GTA V. I was just thinking the other day about cool city's or themes i'd love to see in the new game. GTA V: London... that would be awesome. Maybe a vintage city? Something like Mafia II? I think though if I had to guess it will be back to Vice City.

In response to Biggles1000, I too have a very heavily modded GTA: San Andreas. Most cars are replaced with fitting counterparts (Sabre -> 1970 Dodge Challenger 440 six-pack; Elegy -> 2009 Dodge Challenger (for the peel-out effect)). Other mods include HQ Lights mod, and the Vegitation Pack mod.
I am able to run the game very well on my XP partion, but sadly if I drive at top speed for too long the game crashes, I think it may be the result of the read/write speeds of mt PATA 500GB Hard Drive.

Yeah, I hear you with the fitting counterparts bit. I was determined to mod every vehicle in San Andreas for their real life version or as close as I could get. I ended up giving up halfway through (literally halfway through the vehicle list, most standard vehicles had been swapped) as my computer wasn't up to it anymore. You're lucky having a better machine , but yeah, it does seem to crash at odd times. For example, I was racing against a friend of mine (computer next to laptop, same room) with him in a hydra and me in a modded truck with a trailer. The challenge was who could get around the map first (I drive a circular route around the edge, he flies to each corner, lands, takes off). I nearly won, and would have done if I'd taken the highway to San Fierro instead of accidentally going through the desert. The point of that tale is, the game just crashed many times when I was merely cruising along in the truck
