I know this has been done to death, sorry, but I've read every thread and tried everything and am still unable to find a solution.
My problem is quite common: my wireless receiver comes up as an unknown device in device manager. I know it's not a hardware fault since it has worked before and works on another computer.
The widespread solution that seems to work is right click on it in task manager, update
drivers, Browse my computer for
driver software, choose Microsoft Common Controller for Windows Class and then Wireless Receiver.
However, I do not have that option, my Microsoft Common Controller for Windows Class only contains one option (see attached screenshot).
I've tried downloading and installing
these drivers, however they only seem to have the wireless controller not receiver, and this hasn't solved my problem.
I know this problem can be resolved since I have had the controller working perfectly on this computer on windows 7 before, but what could I do?
