    Chaser

I have the game Chaser, the old Jowood Encore cd version. I see the game is available on steam and found out people can play it on 7. I try to install the game and get an error, the math64dll one. Reseached and found the jowood fix for xpsp2. Still doesn't work, any ideas?

    Solved

This is an old game (2003) so I wasn't surprised I didn't get an answer. It seems they put some nasty DRM on this game, and vista and 7 have comparability problems with it. The answer was to order it of GOG, they sell games DRM free. Thought I would post that here so if anyone goggles it, they can find out.

I remember the game...had it and didn't like it I think.

Jowood are no more as far as I'm aware, folding up recently. They also made the "Spellforce" RTS games. I have the original and one or two Xpacs for that game. Never tried to run it on 7 though. XP could be problematical with it also.

I think the DRM they used was the "Starforce"(?)version. Universally hated and no longer in use I believe. Securerom unfortunately still is .

Glad to see you sorted it out mate Cheers

Their protection was so good I couldn't install the game.

I'm going to solve your problem. I bought an old Windows 98 desktop from a person at a garage sale. It isn't hooked up to the internet, I did a clean install of Windows 98 sp2 and installed the game. Works perfectly ! I have yet to find a Win7 compatible rig to run this game all the way through.... I have the original game I bought when it first came out, loved it ! So, installing it was simple. None of the fixes so far will let me complete the game. It was one of many of my favorite 98 games !

Also keep in mind you have to install DirectX 8.0 and 8.1 separately to get this to work (sort of) in Win7.

I bought Chaser when it was released, Jowood made a big mistake, the original .exe game file was corrupt and nobody could get it to work. After a few days, if you could provide proof of purchase, they mailed you what was basically a 'fixed' executable allowing play without the disk.
yes it works on 7 too.:)
