The Witcher 2

Is it just me or did patch 1.2 make the whole game not just the prologue way easier?

Yes because of a lot of whining :(

Yes because of a lot of whining :(

Before it was perfect, I liked how the difficulty almost made it impossible to just button mash through and forced you to incorporate the bombs and powers and strategy. But I guess I can try Hard or Insane :sarc:

I found out about the brawling and arm wrestling missions and beat them, made some extra cash cash. bought a couple of lures and traps and went endrega hunting. then i set up some traps, drank a few potions and used some sword oil and brought out the queens. i got a a sidequest or two left in flotsam, i'll give a whirl today.

as for the 1.2 difficulty change, yeah it made the game easier. dont get me wrong, you can still get raped my drowners and maybe endregas but some of the battles agains humas or the scoi'atel arent that hard. i guess some people still like hand holding in their games.

It makes sense that the difficulty eases once you hit Chapter 3. You do get a lot of experience. Anyway last Act and only 28hrs in.

Im working on the endrega quest now :) I definitely still die quite a bit, mainly when getting surrounded but I do like the game to keep me on my toes and always looking for new strategys. The forest outside flotsam is really beautiful. They did do a good job of not over using the map markers so you have to ask around and find things on your own. Thats what ruined Elder scrolls oblivion for me.

i know the forests are beautiful, there are times were i just stop and look around haha. i hope you fun with the queens, i know i did. at first i wasn't gonna use any of the alchemy, oils, traps, and potions but then i found that all of them are essential to the game play. i thought it would be an inconvenience to craft and all that stuff, but it has made the game better.

Well,, the easiest way to get cash and experience when starting out anew...

Go to forest, kill everything, collect everything,, meditate 24 hours. Repeat, when full, sell it, repeat.

That is partially annoying. Sure you need a book for some quests but where is the book seller? Map markers and quest info needs to be slightly adjusted in my mind.

Yes, I know, but it wasn't clear in the first place. Apparently there is no difference between High and Ultra if Ubersampling is disabled on some cards. I'll have to test this. I never had gold problems in the game and needed to grind. Its well balanced in that respect. Just don't spend it all at the brothel.

Don't forget to do the drinking sidequest where you blackout. The kayran will show you just how much effort CD Projekt put into this game . . . one of the very best missions in the game.

Finished No 2. Really should have been longer - put in 35hrs or so compared to 53 or so with No 1. Great game, except why did they make half an game? Doesn't matter about the alternative choice, should have been longer in the first place.

Just ran through a bit of this game; can't say it's my cup-o-tea. Oh well, it's only money.

Apparently this game likes cores and clock speed... so, just like with Bad Company 2, upgrading the cpu is also going to give you a performance jump: The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings GPU & CPU Performance > CPU Scaling and Performance - TechSpot Reviews

@ 4.5GHz, Ultra preset, uber sampling disabled, the game just flies. With Uber enabled it's still very playable; sure, it's slower, but not sluggish. However, I can't see any difference whatsoever, so you may as well not even bother trying to enable it even if you can.
