    Unreal Tournament low FPS lagging

    Hy!

I love playing Unreal Tournament on a private server, but I have one major problem.
On certain maps the FPS drops back to 5-10 and so the game gets unplayable. These are custom maps, much more complicated than the original ones, but my notebook should run it very smoothly (I can play The Witcher on medium graphics without problem).
I have latest drivers, installed DirectX End-User Runtime.

Im going to have to ask which Unreal Tournament? the original UT, UT2004, or UT3? What are the maps? Have you made sure you have the lastest drivers for your video and sound?

It's the simple UT, the first one. This is the server:
    >>PwP<< CRAZY Custom Weapons -||- Low Gravity [ut] Unreal Tournament
Yes, I am sure I have the latest drivers.

Ok so with a look at some of the maps and addons they have loaded you might want to make sure you have all the directx9c files loaded on your machine. Also make sure you have defraged the drive since this is an older game it might be searching all over the drive for the texture packs they have loaded. I dont have a password to even spectate on this server (please dont post it out right, dont want thousands of people causing issues) try these two things and see how it works from there.

I wrote that I installed DirectX End-User Runtime, it installs the missing DirectX 9 and 8 files.
I also run the Defraggler program regularly, so this isn't the problem either.
The server should ask no password. Install Unreal Tournament GOTY (I have it, too) and there should be no problem using the server.
I recently tried running the game in Windows 98 compatibility mode, the lagging is a bit better, but still not as good as it should be.

Might want to get a renderer - An enhanced OpenGL renderer for Unreal Tournament

I used one for Deus Ex - What Games Are You Playing?

Thank you very much, the Direct3D9 renderer works great, its only problem is that the weapons have no smoke effect. Apart from that, excellent one! :)

Glad to hear it. Did your frame rates smooth out btw?
