Age of Empires 3 + windows 7 ??

I got a new laptop last week and I was a pretty big fan of Age of Empires series 1(used to play when I was in school more than 4 - 5yrs back), so I downloaded age of empires 3 hoping to play that on windows 7.

After downloading 1.66gb file for over 3 days I was disappointed to find its showing compatibility error.

I have 2 gb ram, 500gbb HDD, Intel Core 2 Duo processor, Dell, windows 7 ulitmate 32bit

I don't know what graphics card I have, if any one can tell me how to check that I can give that also. On my laptop board it says it has 5 in 1 Media Card Reader.

would love some assistance on the topic and hope the game could play good. I seriously don't want to downgrade my windows version just for the sake of this game.

I did not get any error while installation the only error appeared after installation i.e running the exe game file

you can play games or run software that is meant for older windows versions..
Just right click on the shortcut file (or main exe of the game)and click on troubleshoot compatibility. Windows will automatically apply the setting required for the game to run and you can play it on newer versions. For further help please respond.

No, you should be able to leave resolution as is.

I guess it depends what other programs your running simultaneously, you are fine to do so, though looking at the system specs you provided, i'm not sure how good the performance would be if you were running other applications at the same time as the game.

I am usually running torrent downloads, as this would save me time. I am using either uTorrent and BitTorrent (same company but giving variable performance difference).

Assuming they are not system hogs ( i don't torrent myself ) it should be fine.

clinkz, thanks for the response. Was out on a tour so couldn't reply much earlier.

I had tried to open up the file after trying to set the compatibility mode to Windows Vista and Windows Xp - sp2 and sp3
I still get
The Program has known compatibility issues error msg from Program Compatibility Assistant.

what should I do ? run it anyway ?

Yeah it should be ok to install, i would also go here and make sure you lave the latest patch for the game. Also install the game as an administrator. Run as Administrator.
