[Resolved]Charge and Play on the computer?

    Hello Guys,

Very recently I have heard that MS came out with a different driver that could let us use the Xbox 360 wireless controller on the computer through the charge and play wire.

I would like to know if this is true, and if so, where I could find this driver. I would much prefer that than buying another controller just for the computer. I have been searching on google but haven't been able to find it.

    Thanks

I did not read it, I was told by a friend and I want to verify this is true. This is supposed to be as recent as last week.

Maybe your friend was mis-informed or interpreted it incorrectly.
Ask him where he heard about it.
I wouldn't mind not having to hook up the wireless receiver and just plug the controller in since I am sitting right in front of the pc.

Sure will, we'll see what his answer will be.

If that's not possible, does the wireless receiver work with any xbox360 controllers? Or are they somewhat different just to say it won't work on both? If it does I'll see if I can find a receiver without controller somewhere.

I know the wireless receiver works with the MS brand of controllers and the steering wheel. Doesn't work with the Wireless headset though.
I use the MS controller when I play Just Cause 2 and racing games since my desk doesn't feel right with the steering wheel, sits a bit too high to my liking.

I also have the official MS wireless receiver that doesn't require additional drivers for Windows 7, Win7 picks it right up and loads the drivers.

The play and charge kit does work with windows, but only to charge, it does not use it to connect the controller, you will need the wireless receiver for it to be used as a common controller, I used to charge my pad up on it while I was on vista 3 years ago, your friend was misinformed but correct at the same time
