Well I would suggest using one of the newer Vista Nvidia drivers like 185.20 beta and for your sound driver if you are using Realtek HD you should have driver 2.13 and is this the DirectX you installed directx_nov2008_redist, Hope this helps you.

The new 185.20 drivers have some serious issues with multicore rendering , so Left 4 Dead stutturs like hell , and if you tunr it off ( in the options menu of L4D ) you loose performane ....and lots of it .

Realtek HD 2.13 ..... Am i going to loose my control panel options if i install this ?

And for DirectX , the one that comes with Seven is not the latest ?

    Thanks

No you wont loos e your control panel if you update your Realtek driver and that is the latest DirectX drivers as far as I know and there are other Nvidia drivers, try the latest WHQL driver 181.20

One thing you might want to check is the acutal format your sound card is putting out. Right click on the speaker icon and click Playback Devices. Double click on your soundcard you use. No go allthe way to the right to Advanced. Change it to 48000 Hz. I'm not sure why, bu tI had this issue as well. This fixed it right away.
