Crysis Warhead - Frozen Paradise...Um, What?

Game is awesome and my facial expression at seeing relatively high (for Crysis, anyway) FPS was priceless. Enough of that though I've arrived at a problem; every time I load the level up I get nothing but a white environment with lighting and none of the weapons I was previously in possession of. In fact, it's the same two weapons you begin the campaign with. It's almost as if the map failed to load.

I can't move at all, well, I can turn around on an axis but that's about it. If necessary I can take pictures (hopefully the problem doesn't solve itself, making me look quite foolish). I've Googled this beforehand but all I can find is people have CTD's at the same point...which isn't the problem I'm having at all.

EDIT: Now it's become a black screen with a bit of a mountain and some lighting, looks like the moon...but they disappear after a while.

EDIT 2: While I'm at it, let me be a bit more descriptive: At the loading screen it usually jumps from 68% straight to "Press Enter to Start". I thought it may have been a glitch with the auto grenade launcher, so I switched it for the FY71 and it almost looked like that was the problem...neigh, it only went to 78% and then jumped to "Press Enter to Start" and now the whitish-blue screen is back. In either instance of the whitish-blue or black screen, I, as well as the textures (only in the case of the black screen for the latter) either begin to fade or completely disappear/become transparent). I am running 1.1, but this is through Steam (I even DL'ed the patch and installed it manually before beginning the game but that wasn't a problem before). Now I'm stuck.

Corrupt drivers perhaps? have you tried updating your video and audio drivers to see if that alleviates the problem? If you did so recently... was before or after the game installation? if after, there may be your answer... if before, I am stumped!

Crysis Warhead - Frozen Paradise...Um, What?

Is this is a mod? If so, I would suggest you talk to the person/group that made the mod as it Sounds like a game issue to me.

In the meantime you should make sure you have the latest drivers - sound, video. Also make sure the game is properly patched - some mods don't work correctly if the game isn't patched up.

And yes I have Crysis Warhead.

No, FP is the chapter right after Perish or Die.

LOL - Yeah I seem to have forgotten. Anyway I just played through the first chapter in DX10 64-bit mode before posting this and it ran fine for me. Don't have my saves anymore to go to the chapter you're talking about so I can't check there, but again, I had no issues thus far.

Did you do what I suggested, which was make sure your drivers are updated? Also make sure you update your DX files.

    Let me know.

BTW we have the same card (6950), running at the same specs

I'm using the 11.6 Cat drivers.

Well, I attempted the unlocking of the additional shaders almost a week ago which was a failure...but I did flash back to the original BIOS.

Could that be the problem at all?

Honestly it could be anything, including the game itself. Have you noticed any overheating or artifacting with the card? Also, have you noticed issues with other games?

BTW my card is flashed to the 6970 as posted here - Radeon HD 6950 2GB Flash Mod

These are the procedures I used - Unlocking The AMD Radeon HD 6950 to 6970 - BIOS Flash Mod Guide - AMD Radeon HD 6950 to HD 6970 Modification - Legit Reviews

What I didn't do though was mess with the power tune settings or fan speed in CCC. I just left things set a default. In short I just flashed the card and didn't overclock it.

Same procedure I followed except I wasn't going to chance the full unlock, considering this isn't a reference design, or even a reference board for that matter. Since the flash I can't go any higher than 850/1375 as whatever game I'm playing with most likely halt forcing me to restart the entire system. No big deal and no there haven't been any issues at all. I was playing the first two chapters of Warhead nary a single hitch. I have noticed that in the garage/paddock in F1 2010 the driver's gloves are, like, a luminous white but once I get on the track the problem isn't there at all.

I don't have the fan ramped up to 70% anymore, but I do have power tune set to 20%.

You know there is a procedure in there that allows you to just unlock the shaders without bumping either the clock or memory speeds - Unlocking The AMD Radeon HD 6950 to 6970 - BIOS Flash Mod Guide - Radeon HD 6950 Shader Unlock - Legit Reviews

You could try that or just flash to card back to the original BIOS and see what happens from there.

Before doing that though, why not try another area in the game to see if it's just that area that's giving you problems in the game. Sometimes saves get corrupted - go to an earlier save and try playing that area over without saving or playing through the save and see what gives.

That's what I did, and I did flash it back to the original. I thought we'd already established that?

Did that, too. The ending of Adapt or Perish (Did I say "Perish or Die" before? ) plays just fine. No issue whatsoever.

I can try uninstalling the 1.1 patch I installed manually and do it through steam, or I can erase the savegame folder and start anew. I'm not that far anyway and I love the beginning anyway...so it's really no concern nor a hassle to me.
