Dungeon Siege III (Steam)

Hazard Avoidance
So, I purchased Dungeon Siege and Dungeon Siege II through the Steam client as a pre-purchase for Dungeon Siege III. When DS III was released, I downloaded it. However, when I try to install it, it hangs on the following message:

Installing: DirectX Redist Package (2 of 2)

All the other Steam games I have (Dungeon Siege I & II and Mass Effect) installed and work flawlessly. All anti-virus software was disabled during install to no affect.

Any ideas?

This machine was given to me when my dad bought a new computer. I keep throwing upgrades at it and it keeps on ticking. Think I've done everything to it that can be done outside a PSU upgrade so I can run an even BETTER GPU.
Ive had a install hang like this once before.
Same thing, but for me it was the step when Fable 3 was trying to install GFWL and it just froze there.



At any count, I just cancelled the install, exited & restarted Steam. Then it installed just fine.

May be worth trying, or even restart your PC then try again.

Hmmm .. not sure. Never had one hang up with the DirectX part.
Perhaps give it a bit longer? How long have you let it sit at that step?

This may be the same issue I am having with Microsoft Download servers just not responding to any downloads, including DX, WLE, IE10, C++ etc.

Go to a Microsoft Downloads Center and try to download something yourself. If the servers don't respond and you don't get your download, I'm afraid there's nothing much you can do but wait and try again (and again again, yes :( )

OK. I tried re-installing by booting Windows into Safe mode. The game appeared to complete the install. However, now back in regular mode, The game is failing to launch and I am getting the following:

If I can't get this to run, how do I get my money back from Steam so I can go buy a hard copy of this?
