Have you updated Starcraft 2 to the latest patch? If not, here is the latest 1.3.5 patch: sc2-1.3.5-enus.zip | Game Front

Ok, can we try uninstalling it with a special program?

    1. Download and install Revo Uninstaller Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download - Uninstall software, remove programs, solve uninstall problems (Check out this tutorial Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Uninstall Programs on how to uninstall with it).

    2. (Make sure your DVD is clean) Insert the disk into your computer and install SC2 again.

    3. Update to the latest version.

    4. Make sure the disk is inserted and run the game. Report back your success with this here...

Sure I'll give it a shot. Out of curiosity why use revo? Rather than the standard windows uninstaller?

Well, you see, Windows Uninstaller merely links to shortcuts for the Uninstaller of programs, for example SC2. But when uninstalling, an uninstaller will most likely still leave things such as registry items and some files. With Revo, it uses the programs built in uninstaller, but after it is done, Revo will scan for all leftover registry entries and and files. That's why Revo is recommended over the Windows Uninstaller. I only use Revo to uninstall now, as it is very good and effective.

ahh that makes sense thanks! I like to try and learn as I go :) Ok so I uninstalled using Revo as you said and then reinstalled sc2 and restarted the computer before launching the application and it's still not responding...

So whats the next step? Have you had this problem before yourself?

To be honest, I don't have Starcraft 2 (yet). You updated to the latest patch after re-install right?

Hmmm, can you try running SC2 in Windows XP SP3 Compatibility Mode and Running as Admin?

Could you try contacting Blizzard support? This is a StarCraft 2 problem, and not your computer's OS so I can't really help you much. I checked Google but to no avail...

    many thanks
