    Precursors / film grain

I recently got a battered copy of this from a friend and have been trying to play it. Mostly because it's just a bit different from the average game.

Anyhow I initially had a problem with screen flickering.
There's a widely available patch for that online though and I used it to solve the problem.
What remains is the nasty film grain effect.
(which is also supposed to be fixed by said patch but isn't)

I was wondering if anyone around here might know how to get rid of it. Because it's not in the settings anywhere.

It's obviously something that's ingrained in the game so if the patch didn't fix it I'm pretty sure there nothing you can do about it.

However I would suggest you visit the game's forum and see what they have to say about it. That's what I'd do.

Also, if there is a config.ini file in the install dir somewhere, and you know your way around those, you might try and see if there's something in there that can help you.

Yeah, they did some really strange things to the unreal engine for that game.
The config files are basically unreal config files though they hide them in a different place. Nothing I've seen in there indicates a setting for the stupid film grain effect.
Although on one load of the game it wasn't doing it. Next load same thing again.
    Dunno, I'll deal.

I'm gonna go ahead and mark this solved.
Short of using the 8.5 gig user mod version (which is all in russian)
I don't see a way out of it.
Plus I don't speak russian at all, only a little japanese.

Again, check the game's forum/tech support to see if someone there has any ideas.

    Good luck.
