| Windows 7: Playing Cross-Platform games? |

Playing Cross-Platform games? This may seem like a dumb question, but it's an area I know nothing about. My brother-in-law has been playing Call of Duty: Black Ops quite a bit on his Xbox 360. I recently got the game for my PC, but I'll admit, I don't normally play any games online. So, that leads me to my possibly stupid question.
Is there anyway the two of us can play online together? Or, do you need to be on the same platform, or at least on a console to achieve this? | My System Specs |

PC direct online vs 360 isn't possible. I don't think any of games allow it.
There was talk - and a title pn GFWL but I don't know what became of it.

That's actually a good question as I didn't know it wasn't possible. Though in a way it kind of makes sense since some titles may have/get content/features added that the other platform doesn't get.
Though I'm a huge gamer I don't do on-line gaming. Anyway thanks for the question, and answer. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Built by me OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Intel Core i7-950 (3.06GHz) OC to 3.8GHz Motherboard Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 rev 1, F6 Bios Memory 12 gig Corsair DDR3 Dominator GT Memory (3X 4GB) Graphics Card AMD Radeon HD6950 2gig (Sapphire) Sound Card X-Fi Titanium Fatality Pro Monitor(s) Displays HP ZR22w 22" LCD Monitor Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard Logitech Wireless Wave Mouse Logitech Performance MX PSU Antec Signature - SG-850 Case Cooler Master HAF X Cooling Noctua NH-C12P SE14 Hard Drives Primary - OCZ Vertex 4 SSD (256GB). I honestly am surprised that it can't be done. Not that I am disagreeing. I thought I remembered that it would be possible, and that was the big push behind these games, was to have anyone be able to play anyone else.
Although, I can rationalize it to some degree. Call me old school, but I play a lot of FPS games, and I feel like I can aim and shoot much better with my mouse than a gamepad. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Intel Core i7-2600 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3P-B3 Memory 12 GB Patriot Extreme DDR3-1333 Graphics Card Nvidia GTX 470 Monitor(s) Displays Dell UltraSharp 2209WA PSU OCZ ModStream 700W Case CoolerMaster HAF 912 Advanced Cooling CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Plus Hard Drives OCZ Agility3 240 GB, WD5001AALS, WD7501AALS |

rahulsood: Console Gamers Get Killed against PC Gamers Quote: There was a project that got killed at Microsoft. This project was designed to allow console gamers and PC gamers to interact and battle over a connected environment. Personally I wish it would have stayed the course. I've heard from reliable sources that during the development they brought together the best console gamers to play mediocre PC gamers at the same game... and guess what happened? They pitted console gamers with their "console" controller, against PC gamers with their keyboard and mouse.
The console players got destroyed every time. So much so that it would be embarrassing to the XBOX team in general had Microsoft launched this initiative. Is this why the project was killed Who knows, but I'd love to hear from anyone involved --- what happened? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Me OS Win 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Phenom II x4 955 @ 4 GHz. At any rate the way the games are being made to use either keyboard or mouse is a bit baffling why you can't cross platform them to play together online.

While controllers are good for what they are, quick and precise aiming is not one of their fortes. I bounce back and forth between controller/mouse KB roughly 50% of the time - and I hate aiming with a controller. Slow and bloody cumbersome thing it is.
Unless controllers become more precise, it's a hurdle that's likely to keep a project like this grounded for good. That's the one I was thinking of! So much hype for 'the new' direction in Online gaming. It was touted as a 'DX10' flagship title too... | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Computers by SmartEyeball OS 8 Pro x64 CPU i7 3770K 4.6GHz Motherboard ASUS P8Z77 WS Memory 16GB G.Skill Trident X 2400mhz Graphics Card 3x Gigabyte GTX 670 OC WindForce *TRI SLI* Sound Card ALC898 / 5.1 receiver/ ATH-AD900 Headphones Monitor(s) Displays x3 Dell U2410 / 58" Samsung / "40 Sony Screen Resolution 5760*1200/ 1920*1200 / 1920*1080 Keyboard Topre Realforce // Ducky Shine MX Black // Filco Ninja TKL Mouse Razer Imperator + Thermaltake Theron PSU Corsair AX1200W Case Thermaltake Level 10 GT Snow Edition Cooling Noctua NH-D14 Hard Drives 2x Intel 520 240GB (RAID 0) * 2x WD Caviar Blacks 2TB (RAID 0) * 2TB WD Caviar Black Antivirus MSE Browser IE, FF Other Info GT Extreme V2 Sim Racing Cockpit + 40" LCD and K/B Mouse stand ▼
