GTA San Andreas. Does it work?

Hey guys. Was thinking about getting GTA San Andreas but the only version on amazon.co.uk is for xp/vista. Anyone know whether it would work for Win7? I heard from some people that it works perfectly, but others have alot of problems with sound, freezing etc. Not gonna buy it unless I know I can get it to work.

I'm not very intelligent when it comes to the complicated stuff about computers, try and make it easy to understand for a noob lol.

    All help appreciated

The Steam version worked fine for me on Windows 7 x64. Steam's Store page for GTA San Andreas also lists it for Windows XP/2000.

Steam's Store page specs for GTA San Andreas:

    System Requirements

    • OS: Microsoft® Windows® 2000/XP
    • Processor: 1Ghz Pentium III or AMD Athlon Processor
    • Memory: 256MB of RAM
    • Graphics: 64MB Video Card (Geforce 3 or better)
    • Hard Drive: 3.6GB of free hard disk space (minimal install)
    • Sound Card: DirectX 9 compatible Sound Card

I've also heard of some people having problems with stuttering and freezing as well, but thankfully, it never happened to me. I'm sure there are fixes and tips all over the net if that were to be the case, though.

I'm not sure if you need the hard copy (as in the DVD) or a digital copy, but it's $14.99 on Steam if you don't need the hard copy.

    Sure it works

    Hi Whelo!
Sure it works on Windows 7 32 and 64 bit, the people may have problems
with any games and any OS, because of many issues: drivers, C++ Redistributable packages and so on...
You are safe to buy it and enjoy playing it...
If there any problems, do not blame Windows 7, just give us a shout,
    and someone would help you...
    Cheers!

Thanks guys. I got it and it runs really smoothly and has no issues at all, except one. Sometimes when I press the windows button, my mouse gets stuck in the top left of the screen. Sometimes I click and it comes away perfectly, but other times I have to shut down my laptop via the power button.

Once again, all help appreciated :)

Whelo !! Screw Valve man, they're so overrated. ("Steam" to all the new schoolers)

Yes, the above is based on opinion. I do not wish to be bant please ? Truce.

Get the real San Andreas. Retail. Real disc in your hands, and your drive. Pardon me if I am out of line promoting, but with only version 1.0 of this game, not patched, will you be able to Multi Theft Auto with ease.

Multi Theft Auto, is a massive mod team/community since Grand Theft Auto III I believe. Very widely known and played. You will have so many servermods to play, and hundreds to a thousand+ players in one server is possible. Extremely convenient.

I got a "problem" with the steam version it won't work on my resolution (1080p) and there is no fix for it on that basis I recommend buying if your resolution works with the game of if you don't care about black bars or stretched gameplay... it seems that the old version will work on any resolution... I know it doesn't make any freaking sense to me too!
