New games? No, not really. Yes, maybe he can't play TF2, I was not so sure on that, but the Source engine runs pretty well not-so-good computers so I was just suggesting it, might or might not work though.

Hey may just be able to run it but on lowest graphics and resolution. Aslong as he don't mind about the looks of a game he'l be fine :)

    Garrys Mod
Half life 2 ( And lower versions )
    Counter Strike
    Day of defeat
    Zombie Panic (MABY)
    Terraria

New games he MAY beable to run but only on lowest graphics as the new games are always good graphics, like Modern Warfare 3 will be.

@Delta3D - Those games were already suggested. Do you know any other games?

He might just be able to run Minecraft. My friend is able and he owns a really old Packard Bell laptop.

Posting the link again for those that missed it,

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD (GMA X4500MHD) - Notebookcheck.net Tech

You can see just how poorly the Intel graphics in his laptop fairs even with older games like CS:S or L4D (barely playable on low), to quite a few games from the last couple of years that are pretty much unplayable at all even on low.

Look guys, just because he has crappy graphics and is on a laptop, does not mean that the only games he can run are Solitaire or games made during Windows 95... Stop being a troll. There are a number of games that can run on bad graphics.

    Age of Empires 2
Age of Empires 3 (low graphics)
    Angry Birds
Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2
Command and Conquer: Generals (and Zero hour)
    Counter-Strike (maybe Source)
    Day of Defeat (maybe Source)
    Grand Theft Auto: 3
    Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (low graphics settings)
    Half-Life
    Half-Life 2 (EP1 and EP2) - low graphics settings, maybe medium
    Halo: Combat Evolved
Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven
Need for Speed: (all Need for Speeds made before Undercover) low settings
    Portal (low settings, maybe medium)
    Team Fortress 2??? (low settings)
    The Sims 2 (low settings)

Slasher, do not assume that I am trolling... I stated what is currently for gaming. The Intel HD chipset is not designed for 3D gaming and will present serious problems in general. It was designed mostly for standard Desktop usage and video playback. In most cases, there is no Direct X API with regards to the Intel HD for Direct 3D which most of the current day games and the games from the last few years have used.

Lastly, I stated that it would give very POOR gaming experience that it would be best not to really give it a try because half the time it would be frustrating to try and play games on something that is normally not supported nor even recommended as a gaming graphics adapter. The 3D support it DOES sport is more on a business, very generic level, NOT on the level of what would be expected in gaming.

I even stated that it would have to be games that don't rely heavily on a GPU, which, strangely enough, most games that don't use a voxel based engine, which would be practically any game well after 1997 on up, will not be voxel based, and is Windows 95/98/XP focused, will lean towards wanting Direct X API and Direct 3D interfaces for the most part.

@OP - Also Sims 3 and Left 4 Dead will run, at low settings.

@stormy13 - Yes, realize that. All those games I've posted (previous list) run fine on my old 9 and a half year old laptop, featuring a NVIDIA FX Go GeForce 5600, and a Pentium 4 3.06 Ghz.

@Keiichi25 - Yet those games I posted, most of them will run... fine.

Sad part is that despite its age, that old Go 5600 is still better than the GMA 4500.
