    Splinter Cell 1 problem

First sorry for my bad english. I want to play Splinter Cell 1, it's all ok but i can't change resolution and details. It is by default 640x480 and low details and when i try to change sometning, resolution or level of details, screen goes gray i can't see nothing.. but I can hear music in background. I have Windows 7 64 bit, nvidia 430 gt , amd phenom x3, newest drivers and all new games work perfect. I can't instal the patch. :)

Older games are sometimes problems in win 7.
Are you manually editing the settings file?
Have you gone to the game .exe file, and set it for windows xp compatibility mode?
That simple step has solved problems with many older games for me.

Sorry but I can't offer any help on the patch.

could you zip that .ini file and attach it using the paperclip?
I might be able to help in that regard. I'm a computer gamer myself and have been for more than 20 years now.

it appears to be in splintercelluser.ini
just open it up in notepad and use the find under edit to search for 'resolution'
It's a good ways down into the file.
It would seem you can set the shadow light and texture levels there as well.
I would be careful with those just changing them by 1 at a time
the highest setting is generally only 2 or 3, but if you give it something invalid you may crash the game.
