    Battlefield 3 Graphic Problems

well its not really a problem, ive been trying to max the game out without any lagg whats so ever but it always seems to be choppy and i cant make it full screen or else it will be really choppy or my computer would just turn off, and this is a big dissappointment becuase i really though my computer was going to be able to perform well. here is my computer specs
    Processor: i7 920 2.6hz (OverClocked it to 3.4ghz)
    HardDrive: 1.15TB
Video Card: Dual ATI Radeon 5970's
    Ram: 6gb
    Screen resolution: 1920x1200
i got a alienware Area 51, so it include liquid cooling, but when i overclocked my computer to 3.6ghz my computer just completely shut off while playing the game with the fans at 100%. I dont know whats going on, i though my computer would be able to easily handle the graphics at Ultra High, but i cant even run the game at full screen without it lagging a bit or being choppy in ultra high settings, and im always scared that im going to burn or fry something if i overclock over 3.6ghz. I turned on my graphic card fan as well maybe that would help but idk, does anyone have any suggestion on what to do..?

    Ouch. 5970. Two of them...

Either try the latest 11.10 preview driver (links are throughout thread) or the 11.9 WHQL driver.

does anyone have any suggestion on what to do..?
If you are using a software application to control the Overclock - don't. Software based apps aren't great. Overclock through the BIOS if you can.

Your overclock doesn't sound stable. Does it still crash when left at 3.4?

Ulta High/Ultra anything is disabled in the BETA..try dropping your settings to medium, disable motion blur (it sucks) HBA off..what you have should run BC3.

Download the BC3 drivers for your card..ATI have an optimised set I believe as do Nvidia...OH and disable xfire..its not working nice with BF3 yet either

Your CPU under water should easily run at 3.8ghz...920's run at 4ghz easily or the bulk do..something is wrong with your O/C settings.Be an idea to sort it out as BF3 is optimised to run on quad core and if anything will bottleneck it most likely will be your CPU...faster in this game is better.

No im not using any software to overclock, i usually go to setup Frequency/Voltage control and over clock it there, i think im mainly overclocking the Proccesor, i dont know, im not a genius on computers, but yeah, why did u say Ouch on the 5970s? are they bad graphic cards?

What do u mean ultra high is disable? its possible, i did it, and im currently running it under ultra high, it runs smooth on a small screen but not on a full screen, i put my motion blur off (Agreed it does sucks), i dont know abaout HBA, i do not have xFire, i got steam tho, ill try to download the BC3 drivers for your card. And about the overclocking, i dont really know how to over clock, i just go to the setup menue, frequency/voltage control, and i forgot where i go under but i know that i put the number to 133 to 172 (2.6ghz - 3.4ghz) and i hit apply and thats all, and it works, my processor gets over clocked. like i said before im new to overclocking, any tips or idea to properly overclock? and ive installed the newest amd driver 11.9 but it had some catylst failures when it installed but it still works.

If it's stable at 3.4 and your increasing the BCLK (frequency) but not supplying adequate CPU voltage, it will crash.

Memory is also affected by overclocks - essentially, the higher the CPU mhz goes up, so too does the memory mhz. Alongside CPU voltage (vcore), memory is the other biggest factor in system stability when overclocking.

Not bad, just very picky when it comes to drivers / crossfire working well. Problematic buggers.

One gave that much of a headache I got rid of it. You have two which tends to increase the glitch potential. YMMV.

Crossfire is not that stellar on the 5xxx series. Quad-fire with 2 x2 cards is worse. Overall scaling is poor and crossfire doesn't always work with all games. So be prepared to learn how to revert to older drivers. You might be chopping and changing a fair bit

On the brightside - when it all works, they are awesome cards :)

What multi are you using..I'm guessing 20x172bclk?..I run 19x200 bclk mostly or 3.8 ghz...CPU Voltage set to auto and HT is enabled....If your having issues try dropping your multi to 19 and adjust your bclk to the lv you need to get to 3.4 if thats all you want...watch your memory frquency and try to get it to run at at least Factory speed. My guess is if you use 19x?? your Ram will be underclocked if it's 1600 mhz ram to start with. 19x200bclk gets you 3.8ghz @ 1603 mhz..if it wants to crash at those settings disable HT and try again..if it still crashes then drop your bclk.
Your CPU should run 3.8 at those settings on factory air easily but you will still need to watch temps as I run watercooling on my CPU now.

And regardless that you THINK you're changing Video settings you are in fact not doing so as the game is locked to medium. Sorry I meant HBAO..typo lol.
As to your cards..Lot of guys on the OCAU forums are reporting issues with ATI drivers and Crossfire. Most are disabling Xfire atm and experimenting with different drivers. Your card will run the game albeit not as well as 6*** or 5*** NV cards.
ATI have released afaik new drivers for this game but I'm unsure as to whether they in fact have fixed any issues or whether the display port problem is just a Samsung monitor issue or ATI's.This is only affecting 120hz Samsung Monitors as far as I know atm using a displayport...Dual Link DVI is working issue free.

eh, i have no idea what u were saying in the first paragraph, not trying to offend you or anything, i just really don't know to much about computers, and if im not changing the video setting why do i tend to lagg more when i put the graphics up to ultra high other then medium?

Not sure why it's lagging more but the info I get is that it does apparently lag but no one knows why..the fact remains tho that the Beta is locked to medium settings by Dice/EA...There is little tweaking that can be done atm.
My advice remains the same..go back to medium..disable motion blur.HBAO.etc and try running the Beta on one card rather than in crossfire...check ATI for updates..I'm sure they are working on them.

If your overclocking via the BIOS the settings I refer too are in the BIOS..I have no idea what mainboard you are using tho so results may vary..OCAU guys mostly use Gigabyte/Asus boards at least for the X58..I think the best O/C's have been acheived on those boards.

BTW BF3 is very CPU intensive..you will get better results from O/C'ing the CPU as it is a quad core and the game is optimised for quads as was BC2 than you will anything else e.g GPU/Ram.
    cheers
