Can I run a program in 32-bit compatability mode?

So I was in the mood to run a simple old game. One of the old Exile RPGs made by Spiderweb Software. I found there site, downloaded the game, but naturally I couldn't run it because they didn't have a version that worked on my 64bit system. But they had a page with solutions to this problem and they said, "Just run it on compatibility mode." According to the instructions I just had to open the game with that mode by opening through the start menu or some such nonsense... but I can't even install the game so I can't open it through the start menu.

So how do I access this 32bit compatibility mode I'm hearing so much about and apply it to this install program or game?

Have you looked at the compatibility tab under the properties of the EXE file?

Hi ERR welcome to Sevenforums. Give this a go: Compatibility Mode

If that doesn't work because it has a 16-bit installer (as some older 32 bit programs do) then your best bet will probably be to virtualise. If you have an old license for XP you can install it in a Virtual machine, personally I recommend virtual box, but there are other solutions out there. https://www.virtualbox.org/

Yeah, I was fiddling around and discovered the comparability mode, it didn't seem to take. I'll look into the virtualbox though.

I noticed you are unsure of what your system specs are, which are always a help to anyone trying to help you.

This tutorial may be of use to you.
