Xbox 360 wired controller too sensitive on PC

I have a xbox 360 wired controller I purchased on newegg recently. I'm running this on a pc with Windows 7 x64 pro and the os recognizes the controller no problem. I have tried to calibrate it a few times now and the sticks are way too sensitive. I am playing Unreal Tournament game of the year edition and my character just spins like a top. I am able to slow the rotation but not enough to maneuver or aim. They are sensitive to the point of just thinking of touching the stick and my character becomes a Tasmanian Devil. I have the latest driver installed from Microsoft, what to do?
