I played yesterday for about an hour and didn't change any settings, didn't even look to what they were set at.
It played great and looked excellent at 1920x1080.

*sits and twiddles thumbs for two more days until the game comes out in his part of the world*
Make sure you are using all the latest drivers for your cards as it can improve performance drastically.
im just about to update my drivers, just making sure ive a restore point set as the last version caused endless bsod...
whats a micro stutter ? well im going to try to do it with only 1 graphic card, but seriously guys, i cant seem to understand how people are maxing this game out without any lagg. I maxed it out on multiplayer with 3.8ghz and it ran pretty dam good (except for the map that was extremely windy and rainy), but have you guys tried single player campaign? and set the graphics to ultra at the battlefield 3 gametraler (Fault Lines) mission? my computer was spazzing out, i had crossfire enabled on my Dual 5970s, with my cpu overclocked to 3.8ghz, and it seemed like if it was going to run good when your inside the tank with the other soldiers, my FPS was about 98-105 FPS, but when we stepped outside, omg.. it droped down to 60 fps, then 30 fps, and then 1, it completely froze and it was choppy, horrible conditions.. Im also starting to think that the FPS are lieing to me because it would show me 60 Fps and ill still be lagging and choppy... And one more thing, my Fps would go crazy, like at 1 min its at 65-70 fps then it would randomly drop to 15, and the go all the way back up to 60 Fps (Multiplayer/Campaign gameplay)what is that all about? i know this isnt my thread but still can anyone come up with something?
I remember you. Do you remember this?

I wasn't shitting you then, and I'm not shitting you now - you want smoother gameplay? Ditch the 5970's altogether.
A lot of the issues you are talking about, lag, frame rate spikes - it's those cards. Overclocking the CPU will only take you so far. They have inherent faults that will never be fixed.
In the short term, lower details that use a lot of the VRAM buffer. (Shadows, textures, AA etc )
whats all this about playing game on ultra/high settings. I think its just bragging rights. look at this video and decide, if you are actually playing game, will you notice difference between low/ultra settings?
Its not about bragging rights... Its about the height of technology!
I only play pc games as they push the boundaries of technology and just look great.
If I wasn't interested in visuals and physics then I'd by it for a console. Fact is I can notice the difference.
You think its bragging rights.. I think its just your defence for not being able to...
