    Cannot end Processes

    Hey guys,

Im having a load of trouble with Battlefield 3. To skip past everything I've tried and just try to save my computer, lets just focus on the most distressing issue: Not being able to end bf3.exe, origin.exe or OriginClientService.exe.

When i try to end these in the task manager nothing happens, no errors, nothing, but it stays there.

If i try to use taskkill /im bf3.exe it says i need to force end the process, so i do this:

    taskkill /f /im bf3.exe

and it says success, bf3.exe with PID (and some numbers) has been terminated.

However the process is still in task manager, and if I try to open the program again it says theres a background copy running, so obviously its not closing!

If i try to shutdown or restart with this process running, task manager ends mostly everything else but gets stuck on these processes, then nothing happens. I cant start any programs, I get stuck on the desktop. Ive left it like this for over an hour and eventually had to pull the power cable (well press the hard reset button). Now everytime I try to run the game it ends in me having to crash the computer which Im VERY unhappy about, PLEASE help!!!!

    Thanks,

    Max

p.s. been on the phone to EA all day and they are all useless, they said they would promote my case to their veteran techs and call me within an hour but i never heard back, 6 hours ago.

EDIT - Just to be clear, I can end other processes, eg chrome, photoshop etc.. just not the aforementioned processes.

    UPDATE:

I have tried installing a program called process hacker which has a special 'terminate' option on it where you can tick lots of different options for terminating processes, i tried ticking them all and clicking 'run selected' but then process hacker stopped responding and now I cant end that in task manager either! What is going on?! I ran a virus scan earlier today after this problem started, and no viruses...any ideas?

Turns out it was Bullguard antivirus all along. Even if you close the program, the antivirus still runs. If you are having the same error as above for Battlefield 3, disable the antivirus module from within bullguard before starting origin or the game. This should suffice until they provide a fix for all users. If you want to experiment there are a few fixes out there, but they dont always work.

This happens to me about once a week with Bf3.exe. I don't run Bullguard Antivirus but Avast and have added bf3.exe to the exceptions list. What this does too is cause my restart and shutdown options to not function either. Nothing happens. I can end other processes and still use my PC for other things but its causing a problem. I have to hard shut down and get the infamous "Did not shut down properly" menu.

This does not happen everytime I run BF3 its at Random times. (I run game almost everyday)
