Explorer.exe issue after exiting EA games..

I've recently noticed a curious problem with 7600 after running Battlefield 2 & LOTR conquest (both EA titles and both work fine whilst playing) where explorer.exe stalls the computer.. i say stalls because after i exit both of the games the mouse cursor changes to the Vista busy circle. i can click the start button and the start menu appears straight away but if i click on anything (all progs, computer, control panel and so on) quite simply nothing happens.. the start menu doesn't disappear and no new window opens.. have checked the task manager and it says explorer is using 50% of the CPU, and i have to end process then restart it to get it to respond..

is anyone else having this issue? or even know of a fix for it? thanks for any help with this..

Plz try ending explorer.exe from task manager and then open new task from task manager and browse for explorer.exe in Windows folder by simply typing 'e' in the search box. I think this would work:)

i think it's just coincidence that you are having this problem with EA games - EA don't write the games, they just market, distribute and sell them.

i often play bf2, and have no problems exiting the game. as to LOTR, i don't know.

in your system specs you say you arent sure which graphics card you have - are you sure you have the right drivers installed for it?

i'm afraid i don't know what your problem is, but let's try a few ideas...

which ati drivers are you using? i think 9.3 were the last to officially support your card.

    does LOTR use punkbuster?

are you running aero? try changing your theme temporarily to windows 7 basic, and see if you still get your problems.

spent a few hours tryin to get 9.3 driver installed and finally gave up.. and just swapped it for the card i gave my uncle.. not that he'll notice.. the difference.. i'll just call it payment for gettin rid of a trojan he'd somehow managed to infect his Vista's UAC with.. haha cheers anyway its seems to have stopped for the time being..
