Let's try this again, he has a laptop. Means no overclocking, and no new GPU. Overclocking isn't worth the risk, and it isn't like you can go to any computer shop and buy a GPU for a laptop.

And for those that didn't check the link I posted with the system requirements for that game,

Questions about FPS...-carequirements.png

All things considering with system requirements like that, his laptop is more than capable of running that game. From what I could see looking around the official forums for it, it is more that the game looks like an unoptimized buggy mess than anything to do with his computer.

i completely missed the "mobility part"

game reminded me of early counter strike builds. then of a game i have on my playbook lol.

and i can think of 3 external laptop GPU's there was the asus xg ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Graphics Cards- ASUS XG Station it was discontinued but probably still track one down.

the vidock 2 which i only stumbled across via google.

and the ATI XGP.

ok admittedly non of these are current models but still you could still wonder into a shop and buy one.. well could.

Which is why I said he's doing pretty good to be getting an avarage of 60 frames per second

Could he get more, probably, but that'll most likely require some game tweaks and stuff.

Vsync "syncs" the FPS the GPU is drawing to your monitors refresh rate.

In a nutshell, the refresh rate will be what your monitor is capable of.
So if its a 60refresh, it can only display 60FPS. A 75 refresh can only display 75FPS.
Its physically impossible for the display to show more FPS than its refresh rate.

So if yours has a 60 refresh, 60FPS is the MAX it can possibly display.
Letting the GPU render more frames is a bit pointless, as they extra are being thrown away and never make it to the display.

Also, when you start exceeding the FPS your display is capable of showng, you start to see whats refered to as Image Tearing.
To me, this is quite annoying.

I probably feel a bit differently than most in regard to Vsync, and there will be many that disagree with me for various reasons.

But IMHO, for the reasons listed above, I say Vsync should always be on.
The overall gaming experience will be smoother, especially if the GPU is capable of exceeding the refresh by a good margin.

In my experience fraps will drop your fps severely if you are recording to the same drive as your os and game are running off. If you can add a 2nd hard drive to your computer that will likely solve your problems, usb drives won't work. That's what solved mine. And I also used to record with fraps on my laptop.

Few questions regarding RAM
I have 2GB DDR3 RAM on my laptop at the moment, I was thinking about getting 1 or 2 GB RAM added to my laptop. I'm planning to add more, as CPU is constantly hitting nearly 1.5gb ram with very few applications opened. I have some basic questions, (they may be silly in nature too), I would...
