oh dear - £10.99 wasted on the Max Payne games at Steam..

    1. Max Payne1 - doesn't work at all, though the Steam interface says it's running (?)
    2. Max Payne2 - same problem.. no access to game
    3. Max Payne3 - game completely ruined by overkill on flashy graphics and over-long cut-scenes

    - save your money, folks

    Sheesh, what a waste..!!
Oh im sorry all version of max payne I have work fine with my pc 3 does have a hell load of cut scenes the 1st 2 aren't that bad with that if you get them going

I already had MP1 and MP2 on CD/DVD, so I could run them (with a bit of fiddling about..)

I'm shocked that Steam should sell these, knowing they won't run via the Steam console
    - very shoddy customer service, imo..

Max Payne 3 - what a shame - it looks great, but plays horribly
one-up for the clunky console converters - nil use for PC owners..

stay away from Max Payne on Steam folks, unless you want to
spend ages trying to figure out what the heck is wrong with them..

    it's a penny-pincher and not much else, I'm afraid..

    wasted exercise - drat!!

Same here, all 3 work flawlessly for me through Steam and agreed with the cut scenes. I did enjoy all 3 games though since I am just a Max Payne homer

OK, here's what I currently have installed. I'm running Windows 8 on this machine, and
have been testing some of my older games on it. These all work on Windows 8, although
some do require compatibility mode and/or some tweaking in order to do so.

The other s/shot is of the DOS games I currently have installed in DOS-Box.

**NOTE: - Race Driver 3 (aka V8 Supercars 3) won't run at all on Win 7 or Win 8 unless
you use a no-CD crack. This is because, although the game itself is compatible with either
version of Windows, unfortunately the terminally useless Starforce copy-protection is not.**

UPDATE: - As I said, I've been testing my games for Win 8 compatibility, anyway I got
bored this afternoon and did some more testing.

Here's an updated s/shot. I hope this might be of use to anyone considering moving (I
won't say 'upgrade') to Win 8, but who is worried their older games may not work. You
may need to do a bit of tweaking, but these will all run on W8.

The games that I'm actually playing, as opposed to testing, are mainly the two STALKER
games, Race Driver 3 (because I haven't been able to play it since I left XP in 2008 due
to that accursed Starforce copy-protection software) NFSU 2, Call of Duty 2, and Medal
of Honor. The others do get played, just not regularly.

    Wenda.

Nice selection Wenda. I remember devastation and always thought it was decent. Gonna have to look for the disc again.

Have you checked if your AV is putting the Social Club or patcher.exe into Quarantine or Blocking it?
LA Noire runs fine for me through Steam but it did stop working a couple times. In both instances it was due to Social Club trying to patch the game and patcher.exe or whatever was quarantined.

And both LA Noire and MP3 run fine for me. Ports alright, but they do work. Checking A/V etc is a good idea.
