Windows 7: Rome Total War (from STEAM) not Working

Hey, guys.

When I first start Rome: Total War, it essentially has the game running but for some reason I can't click anything or press anything on my keyboard. What it does is show me the intro. cinematic, but doesn't let me skip it.



When I get to the main menu, you can see the default mouse cursor (the white one) from the desktop moving, but at the same time, you can also see the golden, in-game cursor, which isn't moving. Then, if I try to alt-tab, it just brings me back into the game. Even opening my task manager through Ctrl+Alt+Delete brings me back into the game. It's really weird. Please help.

Please note, I bought the game from STEAM gaming store.

have you allowed steam to fully update the game before hand?

Also whats your system spec? are your drivers for GPU ect up to date?
