They still did an abysmal programming job with the UI in the first place, which is what most people agree with so far. I was told it was ported over from the console, but either way, whoever did the sound/UI programming still did a horrid job, and they better fix it, or they'll still have a lot of unsatisfied customers.

Bethesda's games were never bug-free and instead simply "done bad". There will be fixes, or if not, mods

My personal problem with Skyrim is related to the keyboard sometimes freezing up and mixing up commands... but then again, maybe that's just the batteries in my keyboard going dead xD

Really? That IS weird. Are you sure you can't tweak the individual sounds of the game from it's Gameplay Options menu? I'm able to tell it how loud I want voices, effects and all of that type of thing with the sliders in there. It helped me to turn down all of the other sounds lower than the voices and the Master volume in there (for me it's just the voices that are hard for me to hear, everything else is OK but still a little lower than I'd like, but they have to be to hear the voices - especially in the 3d person vanity). Maybe Bethesda can help though so try sending them a support email or call them up about it.

Has anyone found out if that file is genuine or not?

I'm not sure if it's genuine. No offense to the poster, but you only have 2 posts, and the first one is a download link to a site I've never been to and requires you to fill out information. If there is a real audio fix out there, please let me know I'm still trying.

I've tried everything everyone suggested but nothing has changed for me.

And it won't change until the company puts one out, or someone mods it. I doubt it's a real thing, and I'm not tryin' it out, either.

It's not a bug, it will never get fixed. Skyrim is mixed to a very specified level.

It's called Dynamic Range. Remember when you put your Star Wars DVD in and you have to crank the volume to hear the voices? This allows the big space battles to sound absolutely massive because you've had to turn it up to hear the speech. The same applies to Skyrim, and a lot of games and will be in the future as the industry bends towards the movie industry as opposed to the music industry.

If you're interested in calibrating your speakers to listen to Skyrim as intended then follow these instructions Blue Sky Blog Archive Blue Sky Calibration Test Files

Use freeware audacity to drop the audio files in and a simple iPhone SPL meter app will suffice.
