I guess it's more optimised for surround sound. I'm fairly sure you're right about this. It seems to have some type of "Doppler effect" going on in that the sounds and voices seem to move around depending on how your character is positioned (more to the left if the character is standing to the left and vice versa), if you're in the 1st or 3rd person, and even if 'you' are standing close or far away from the NPC or source of the sound affects. I suppose it would be cool... however I'm using a 300-Watt JVC Stereo for everything over an AUX connection through my 23" Syncmaster. Everything else on the PC and TV feeds sound great... just not this game. Kind of sucks you can't tell the game what type of sound system you're on so it can dish out the audio accordingly (I believe most games auto-detect this but not Skyrim it would appear). I have to put the PC volume and game volume all the way up, and then turn the head unit up to about 15 (max is 30) to hear it as well as the rest of my games (and because of all the juice flowing through the amplifier at that volume, there is an electrical hum - even though I installed a THX certified AUX to 3.5mm jack cable, which is supposed to stop that).
Again... patch please! LOL | My System Specs |

I've been using the 4Gb.exe mod from Nexus. It's gotten rid of the CTD problem. I'm occasionally getting a BSOD crash though. Only when I enter the blue palace in Solitude, oddly enough. And only 1 out of about 20 times.
I have noticed that the sound is a little on the quiet side, but I don't think that's a huge problem.. that's what the volume knob on the speakers are for. I have to goose my speakers up about 20% from where they normally are for regular Web and Movie viewing. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Build OS Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit Service Pack 1 CPU Intel i7-2600K OC to 3.8Ghz Motherboard Asus TUF Sabertooth P67 Memory Corsair Vengence 16GB (X4 4GB) Graphics Card X2 EVGA GTX570 SLI Sound Card Creative Soundblaster X-FI TI Monitor(s) Displays Dual HP 2311 LED Displays Screen Resolution 1920X1080 single / 3840X1080 desktop Keyboard Razer Black Widow Mechanical Mouse Razer Mamba PSU Kingwin Mach 1 1000w Modular 80+ Bronze Case AZZA solano 1000 Cooling Zalmen 700 LED CPU, X2 240mm case fans , X3 120mm case fans Hard Drives Crucial Force 3 SSD 120GB 6Gb/s ( OS Drive )

And here's another potentially major hiccup with this game I've just come across. The grayed-out "shouts" you need to spend dragon souls on to unlock? Not letting me, despite having killed five chance dragons so far. Just keeps saying I need them to unlock those shouts "OK". And yep, this is after having killed the one for Whiterun and doing the quest with the Graybeards to get the first two complete shouts. Kind of sucks... don't know what the problem is, on the first game I started (Nord) this worked fine... just not on my Khajiit game. Hmmm.

Gromit1710: BSODs? No, no, no, no, no thanks! I'll stick with the unpatched game and it's CTD's until a better solution than that Nexus thing comes along, if it's prompting BSODs (haven't experienced one of those off of Skyrim itself yet thankfully)! | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Acer Aspire 5738PG-6306 OS 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Core 2 Duo T6600 @ 2.20GHz Motherboard Acer JV50 | Intel PM45 Chipset | BIOS Phoenix v1.21 Memory 4GB SDRAM DDR2 667 Graphics Card ATI Mobility Radeon 4570HD 512MB VDDR3 (2.25GB HyperMemory) Sound Card Integrated Dolby Home Theater HD Audio Support Monitor(s) Displays 15.6" LED backlight HD/WS CineCrystal w/ Multi-Touch Screen Resolution Notebook: 1366x768 | Syncmaster P2370HD: 1920x1080 Keyboard Microsoft Wireless 3000 (USB) Mouse Logitech V220 (USB) PSU AC Adapter Case Blue Clam shell Cooling OEM Bult-in.
