Ugh, well I've run into the dredded 18meg save game bug that more and more people seem to be having (sometimes not till 19 or 20 meg but somewhere in there is the magic number).

Game becomes pretty much unplayable as more and more "cells" cause instant CTD when they come into view or are entered.

Tried about 30 things to fix it, noone has found anything that actually works yet.

185 hours of play and it's dead.. kind of sad. Game is just not playable at this point. Posted in bethesda forums and offered my save games if they will help. Praying for a patch but moving onto batman arkham city till if/when they fix it.

Wow it's interesting that you say that. I've not seen, nor heard of that bug, but I just looked at my saves noticed that the further you get into the game the larger the save files get

Right mow I'm at level 49 and my last save file is 13meg where my first save file was only 3meg. I also notice the autosave and quicksave files are inline with the last save file - 13meg.

Seeing that these files increase in size the further you go I sure hope I don't run into this bug or there is a fix or explaination for it.

im starting think half of all this ''bugs'' are made up. Most could be do to setting and hardware. or pebkac. i have never heard of the save file bug. i really haven't seen any issues. just saying.

The save file bug is only now starting to appear on forums becuase it takes 150 to 200+ hours of game play and a save file of 18+ megs to run into it. A lot of people never even make it that far and for most people it takes a month or more to get that much time in.

i have a wee bit over 150 hours and i come in at 7 megs per save. surely its something else.

Different people play at different rates... I'd guess maybe you are going slower than I am? Or possibly spending less time on horseback running through cells? (There seems to be a problem of bloat caused by reentering outdoor cells often). How many saves do you have as well? My top save is number 1615. I saved a LOT, possibly there is a bloat problem there too. I've finished probably 90% of the quests and found/cleared 95% of the dungeons on the map.

Your not having at problems because your save file is still "small" (same as me when mine was that small), when it reaches 18-20 meg, if you play it that far, then we'll see what happens :)

I've moved a fair amount of my saves but I only have 255 saves total thus far. Heck I save a lot but nowhere near what you do to have 1600+ saves

Though I've got a fair amount of time I've not hit every cave or ruin on the map. I did finish the main quest, the civil war, join the companions, mage college, currently finishing the thieves guild, and did quite a few odds and ends here and there. That equals 245 hours at level 49.

BTW my first save file was only 3meg and now 244 saves later its at 13meg.
