Heh that's assuming you have any filled soul gems

If not you can buy filled and empty ones in stores in an emergency, but I've found all I need exploring the world, dungeons/caves mostly. Some are filled with souls and can beused to recharge weapons but mostly you have to fill them yourself by casting a soul trap spell before killing something or better yet, get lucky and find a weapon with a soul trap enchantment on it. those rock, slash and capture, slash and capture
I just buy 'em. They're not all that expensive so it's usually not much of a deal.

Buy 'em like they're going outta style. Or get Azura's star.

    +1

Azura's Star is probably the most useful item you'll get.

Man you need to explore more I got a couple hundred in my inventory just from dungeon clearing.

Though... [Minor spoiler] There is an awesome place deep deep DEEP underground where you can actually mine a crap load of them.
Casting a soul trap is kind of a PITA, but as soon as you find an item enchanted with it, that's when things get fun. No need to waste a single coin!

I guess I just hate paying for anything in world that I can get for free myself just as easy. The only thing I've bought is my house and furnishings. And early on maybe 10 or so health potions...

I just started a new game and doing some heavy modding now.
Lotys of Textures packs and a mix of a few Gameplay changes, as well as UI changes.

The changes so far makes Skyrim feel a lot different.More of a a hardcore mode now.

But some major changes Ive done ..

There is no compass. So no red dots or symboyls to give anything away about your immediate surrounding. You can read road signs or look at your map if you need to get oriented.

There are no quest markers of any kind on the map any where on the HUD.

All you have to go by is the description you get in you journal and the Map its self which will only show where you are and what you've discovered.

Along with that, the Crosshair is removed and the Sneak Crosshairhair as well (no more eye) Forcing you to be much more carefull and aware of the surroundings.

At first aiming with a bow or magic was difficult for me, but Im slowly learning and getting somewhat better.
Forces you to try and judge distance etc more when making a bow shot :)

Makes sneaking a lot more challenging, yet more satisfying when you get that long sneak kill. :)

Actually found my self hanging out back of the Companion hall practicing at times too LOL. Never even thought of it when the crosshairs were there.

Oh, and No fast Travel. The only form of Fast travel is from the rented carriages.

Got a few others as well, Stronger dragons, Stronger traps, Wars in Skyrim etc ...

But those are the main changes that make the game feel alot different, at least to me.

Love SkyUI with the font change too ..
And the Realistic Paper mod (dark) makes reading books soooooo much better. Give it a try :)

Need a real Needs mod now hmm .....
BTW, any one know when the Creation kit comes out or is it already?

@fseal .. that place you refer to I found cool, but at the same time somewhat disappointing.
I mean they were literally everywhere. Seems like I filled my bags with them
I too agree, certainly grab Azuras Star. One of the best gadgets for recharging your weapons.

So can you divorce or do I just need reload an earlier save and pick someone else.
That's one flaw with the marriage thing - it's why I can't decide. They should have adopted a bit of the Fable Mormon option of multiple partners.
You mean like you can have a partner in each city?
Yep - or multiple in the same city

    Heh awesome

One thing to consider adding "True Dark Dungeons". That really makes being underground a lot scarier. You sometimes have to listen for the enemies breathing because they were hidden in shadows. Also makes you have to use the torch if you want to see into corners when looking for loot or enemies... much more realistic!

Heh yeah, you mine out almost a lifetime supply of gems there I went back "months" afterwards and it had no re-popped the gems yet, not sure if it does like the mines do... I assumed it would but.

I think though that if you continue playing it could get to be a scarce commodity in the future, not sure how much of it re-pops in world anywhere...

I haven't tried modding yet but it sounds like fun. The one thing I found odd (as did many other people) was that in the middle of a civil war there was no actual battles going on. I'm assuming the mod you've referred to does something like that?

Hehe, the civil war is over so long ago now for me, but every now and then I'll run into a skirmish between soldiers on both sides out in the middle of nowhere . I just pause and watch for a bit then head off again... :)
