You first have to tell us which game and your system specs.

Not sure that's going to fix your issue as it could very well be a game compatibility issue with Windows 7.

Suggest you look through here first to see if anything helps..... Tips on Troubleshooting Game Issues

We see lots posts about problems with games that won’t run, have bad performance, or simply won’t install under Windows 7. The purpose of this post is to provide some simple tips on troubleshooting basic game issues. It is not all inclusive, nor is it meant to be, considering there are hundreds of things to try when troubleshooting PC games. This is simply a reminder of some basics.

Ok, first off we can’t help if you don’t supply the most basic of information – systems specs. The importance of this can’t be overstated since game performance is highly dependent on your hardware. Please see this tutorial on filling out system specs as well as my How To Ask For Help guide.
BTW according to Windows 7 Compatibility Center Age of Empires lll is not compatible with Windows 7, while Age of Empires lll Gold is.....

Gold - Windows 7 Compatibility for Microsoft Age of Empires III Gold: Microsoft. Drivers, Updates, Downloads

Standard - Windows 7 Compatibility for Microsoft Age of Empires III version 1.0: Microsoft. Drivers, Updates, Downloads

So that installer fix isn't going to fix that issue.

    Good luck
