Dawn of War 2 Install Problem

    Hey all

I'm having issues installing my retail copy of DoW2. I insert the disc, select language and everything. The game will then install third party software and everthing just fine. However when steam prepares the game for install - creating local game cache files etc- the progress bar will reach what one would assume to be 100% however does not move from this screen. i have tried running steam as admin and in compatablity for winxp service pack 3 to no aval.

On my steam games list it will show as installing however it will not make any progress (as i havnt even been able to enter a cd key or specify an install path yet) and trying to exit the install will cause steam to crash.

I would appreciate any advice given. My apologies if a thread like this has been posted in the past, i did try searching but found nothing of relevance to my problem. FYI i am running win7 32bit, with pc specs as follows:

Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core processor 5200+ 2.61 Ghz
    Ram: 4.00 Gb (3.25 usable)
    Video: Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTS

    Same Problem diferent OS

I realize this is a windows 7 forum but i having the exact same problem on Vista Home Premium and i could not find another thread to follow for Vista.

Previously my game ran fine until one day steam froze at a progress bar that said "scanning for updates," After a trying turning my firewall off and visiting some forums I came to the reluctant decision to uninstall steam and reinstall it.

Every thing seemed to be going fine till I hit another progress bar during the installation that said it was loading data on to the cache and it hit 100% and did not go any further and closing it caused the program to crash.

in summary i believe the problem is not only with windows 7 or just the one progress bar.

    Hope that helps

Install AND steam must be ran in Admin mode and try Not to use the Autorun feature on the DoW 2 disc as it did the same for me when I tried it like that.
For spacedmarine with Admin mode on both it SHOULD work, if it doesn't I'd go consult the DoW 2 Forums tech support for further help.

Jem - Compatability mode Vista SP 2, both in Admin mode

You can also just add the game to steam and let steam download it instead of using the DVD for installation. Works fine for me with Windows 7 Pro x64.
