Command & Conquer Zero Hour Wont start! 64bit 7600 W7

Hi! I just reformatted and installed my computer and it's all fresh, I've downloaded and installed all drivers for my parts.

    I have Windows 7 Professional Build 7600 64bit

Here's the problem, I've tried all compatible modes and still it just starts up I can see the logo and then in the windows task manager it says Not Responding it all kind of like freezes up on the logo and then it just closes down...

    I've tried
    -dx9
    -directx 9
    -d3dx9

and all kinds of stuff in the shortcut command line but still not working..
I've been googling but there's been nothing that has been helping...

Also when I try running C&C 3 Tiberium wars it says "Please get directx 9 or higher" and it mentions video card acceleration as well...

It might be directx that is the problem here, I've installed lots and lots of directx versions until it finally said "There's allready a higher updated version"

Anyways, Any help and discussion is appreciated

    Hi luburium,

Where did you get the directx 's from?

Can you tell on what platform you did get it to work with your two card setup? XP? Vista? 32bit or 64bit?

Have you checked the C&C forum to see if more people have this issue?

Isn't Tiberium Wars a directx 10 game? (excuse my ignorance, I'm not mutch into gaming)

My directx's were from the microsofts website, I've downloaded 9, and 10.1 from there and it didn't help, Still get the "You need directx9 or higher" on Tiberium wars.

On zero hour the logo just starts and after a while it's not responding and dies.

My two cards have never been a problem, On xp and vista everything runs perfectly fine, Though I may take this in consideration and disable the crossfire and try starting my game that way.

Tiberium Wars I think is both dx9 and dx10, There's options in the graphic menu I think.. But I've been playing it with XP and there's no dx10 there..

Zero hour runs fine on my system, It does need to be run in Compatibility mode using XP-SP2 for stable use however

Tiberium wars was running fine last time when I was running the RC 7100 build, Have you tried running the games with CrossFire disabled and did it make any difference?

    Hi luburium,

I installed C&C3 tiberium demo on my pc (windows 7 professional 64 bit (7600)) and it didn't work. So i went to Best buy, and i read the system requirements on the back of the game and it said that it is compatible for Vista 32 bit and that it is NOT compatible with Vista 64bit. I am assuming that both OS's (Vista and 7) are similar in nature and believe that (sadly) that is the reason for the game not running.

Hopefully the next game will work fine.

    Sincerely,

I've had it installed previously on both Windows 7 RC 7100 and the Windows 7 RTM enterprise trial. The problem might actually be your software firewall if you're using one.

    hey
sorry to bring up the old subject ..

I have the same problem ,C & C Zero Hour wont start on my win7 64bit ! it say serious error ..etc
I had played the game on win7 32bit smoothly.. so if we assume the reason is in the "bit" thing ,I'm wondering if there's a solution to this !!!

    regards

Uninstall it and then before installing it go into windows explorer and then the cd/dvd drive that has the command and conquer disk and right click the setup.exe file and change the compatiblity to windows xp sp2 and press ok then try installing it again and see if it helps.

    Registry

I know this post is old but, here we go.

Most of problems of C&C - Generals or Zero Hour won't start in XP, 7 (32bits or 64bits) is about registry error. So I'm attaching the registry of it so you can modify with your folders BEFORE running the .REG.

PLEASE MODIFY TO YOUR FOLDER SETTINGS AND DON'T FORGET THE DOUBLE SLASH.

    Regards everyone.
