Windows 7 - Getting Laptop and a Desktop - Need some advices?

Soo, I was getting a gaming laptop (as discussed in another thread) ,
but we came to the conclusion that the best thing to do, was to get a gaming desktop and a ordinary laptop (to homework, school and such).

I am going to buy a laptop to about 800-1000 dollars (5000kr Norwegian currency).
And a desktop to somthing around 1700 dollars (10.000kr Norwegian currency).

I want the laptop to be as good and powerful as it can be for the price (of cource ).
And the desktop should be a gaming computer and as the laptop it should be as powerful as it can be for the price.

We was going to make the desktop ourselves, but if you guys in the forum have better ideas or can make a list or something of hardware we could and should buy, that would be good too of cource

I want the laptop to be quite powerfull so that it can handle atleast a few of the newer games, as I probably will use it on Lan with friends :P

It would be nice to find a dealer in Norway, as i live here.. And I probably will So give me some advice for computer parts and laptops ¨

(My native language is Norwegian so my English isnt flawless.. And it might be alot of fails and typoes :P )
