There's an error when I start it up, but can still continue, something with framework, even though I have all the freamework releases. I go through the "Change VGEE options" then "Load Game Info" change some options, update game info - icon changes, but the game doesn't start.

I am trying to change the icon to Doom 3 ROE, but the thing is that there's only one .exe for 2 games, so the shortcut to the doom.exe has to extend to "+set fs_game d3xp" for the expansion. When I type in the correct shortcut, the Doom 3 icon that updates normaly, disappears. After that, I can't load the game info for ROE into VGEE.

It's not a big deal anymore. Sometimes we have to live with the fugglies.

in all honesty, i can not help with that one....

you could always use reshack to modify the icon directly. all's you would need is that program and suitable icons to replace the old ones. a tad risky, could break the game. NOT recommended.

probably better to leave it like it is.... sorry i couldn't be of assistance. hopefully someone else can.

VGE-Editor wasn't really designed to work on Windows 7 (hence the V at the front)

I've done a few test on the first Beta x86 build of Windows 7 and it worked okay, but I haven't done any extensive testing on RC1 (which I now use).

If you want to PM me the exact error messages that come up, perhaps I can be of assistance. Bear in mind that VGEE is limited in what it can do, and that I'm working on a brand new program that does much more (but won't be available for a while since I don't have as much spare time as I did when I built VGEE 2 years ago).

As far as I know, you should be able to customize the game shortcuts by navigating to %localappdata%\Microsoft\Widnows\GameExplorer, then figuring out which folder is for the game you want to change. In there you should a PlayTasks folder, which contains a subfolder called 0. You can have up to 5 of these folders (named 0, 1, 2, 3, 4) which contain one shortcut each. The 5 shortcuts are the 5 PlayTasks that you could edit in the Vista Game Explorer. Change the target of one of these shortcuts to add the extra arguments you need.

    Hope this helps

Today I installed Win 7 RTM and have the same problem. Stupid M$. Well at least it's fast OS.
Luckily I found small program called Game Explorer Builder - Game Explorer Builder for Windows Vista
With it you will be able to change icons. :)
I also created cod4 both sp and mp profiles. You can get them here - Free File Hosting Made Simple - MediaFire

You can load them with GEB. You will need to add only target exe file. Have fun. :)

I get a error at the beginning saying EAX.dll not found program can't start but then it does lol???

Looks impressive, has cleared a unspecified entry for WOW I used to have but don't play on anymore, will have a "play" on it soon and see what it can do, looks like a lot actually.

Thanks for the "Games Explorer Builder." It worked great changing the icon as well as adding additional information about the game. It'd be good if it had the option to modify the resource directly rather than always starting from scratch.

I tried what RyanR suggested with the icon customization, but I just couldn't get it to work.

I have a similar problem. I tried to put a shortcut into the games folder pointing to an Internet URL. I now have something in the games folder that won't let me click on it to open it, won't let me right-click on it to find the properties, and won't let me delete it. After a reboot, the ... thing ... developed an icon, the one that shows it's an address (it has the IE "e" symbol).

At this point I'd just like to get rid of the thing.

    Any ideas?
